Wegovy experiences compared to mounjaro

Hi, I’ve recently gone cold Turkey from mounjaro and also been on holiday. I’ve gained 4 pounds. I still would like to lose another 1 stone 5 pounds. The cost of mounjaro isn’t really manageable. I’ve heard of a few people switch to Wegovy and they say it hasn’t worked. Is it worth trying? My BMI is just above healthy range now. 25.8

I made the switch after a couple of months break.

I find the food noise hasn't really kicked in until i got to the 2.4mg dose of wegovy.

Up until then, I hadnt really lost any weight but pretty much maintained.

Im on my second 2.4mg pen, and now lost 4 pounds.

A relative lost lots on MJ, stopped and re-started, and it isn't working as well as it did before. So I think the break and re-starting on any of the jabs stops the progress.

Thanks @DeltaAlphaDelta79 . Am I able to switch to an equivalent dose on Wegovy or will I need to start from scratch? Will they accept me given I’m just above bmi 25? I have lost 5.5 stone in total. So it sounds like it is working for you now.,

It depends how long the break is and who the supplier is, but I had a 2 month break and had to start from scratch again.

If you can prove your previous prescriptions you should get it as a maintenance treatment, but again, different suppliers have different criteria. It'll be a case of checking each one unfortunately.

I started wegovy after mounjaro and 4 months later lost no weight now on Reta it's amazing 😍

I lost 3.5 stone on MJ and had to switch to wegovy due to cost. My weight loss stalled completely,. although I didn't gain back either,.my weight has been static for 9 months now. I still have quite a bit to lose (BMI 32).

For me it was like injecting water, I still get very hungry and can eat whatever. I consciously don't though and use willpower to stay eating healthy. I eat 1400-1500 calories and am not losing.

I've just gone up to 7.2mg pen this week and have lost 1lb so I'm hoping it's gave me a kick start again. But I can't afford to keep paying for 7.2.

Unregulated and high risk. You should be ashamed of yourself recommending to others so casually.

I agree, dangerous advice to recommend an unlicensed medication.

I am on Wegovy and find it is extremely effective. 10kg off in 8 weeks, 18kg to go.

I lost about 4 stone over 5 months on MJ before swapping to Wegovey. Went from 7.5MJ TO 1.0 Wegovey. That was 11 months ago. It was certainly slower losing but then I was slowing down on MJ as well. Ive now lost another 4.5 stone and still on 1.0.
Just about to go on holiday but when I come back will go up to 1.7 as suppresion is not good now. I tried to go up to months ago but it made me very sick so will count clicks and go up gradually.

If I take it that's my choice butt out

Do you happily take coke too? Risks of serious complications including dying are very similar when you’ve no way of knowing what’s in the substance you’re taking. Rather silly really!

LastCall24 · 14/08/2026 11:49

I've used both Wegovy and MJ and found no difference really. Lost similar weight on both, quite slow but steady. Wegovy I wasn't bothered about alcohol which was good, but MJ I still craved a glass of wine. I've recently tried Wegovy pill for a month and couldn't get on with all the restrictions, so back to Wegovy injections for me as cheaper than MJ. I've been on WL on and off for 2.5 years and although I'm still down on weight, every time I try to come off the weight starts creeping back on. I have various health conditions so trying to do enough exercise nowadays to keep trim is unfortunately impossible. I've come to the conclusion I'll have to stick with them.

My prescriber said they wouldn't issue to anyone with BMI below 22, so you should be OK.

Yes agree, your choice if you want to take the risk for yourself. But if you’re promoting it to other people, you have a responsibility to be honest about what you’re encouraging, so you can save your “butt out” for when it’s only your own health you’re putting at risk.

It’s an unregulated prescription drug being obtained illegally in the UK, it is high risk and not some harmless supplement. People are free to make their own choices, but normalising this stuff and encouraging others to do the same is incredibly irresponsible.

There are enough idiots online egging each other on and normalising illegal prescription drugs without bringing it onto this forum.

I started on Wegovy but felt no impact at all after 4 months so swapped and am now making progress with MJ.

That was fast considering you said you were on MJ last week.
