Nervous about starting Wegovy during the school holidays with children

Hi, Im overweight 16.5 stone 5ft 5. I ordered wegovy pill but im scared to take it. I’ve had it 3 weeks but I haven’t started. I’m scared of the side effects I think. It’s school holidays and I worry how I will cope with the kids if I feel really unwell.

You’d cope however you’d normally cope if you happened to get very unwell. Which is extremely unlikely and if you did happen to, then you just don’t take another tablet and very soon the medication will have gone from your system.

I don’t understand op, it’s a daily tablet, you feel unwell don’t take the nexy days

@Viperregency that’s not quite all there is to it, as the Wegovy in your system doesn’t all leave by the time you take the next tablet, so the amount in your system builds up over time. In the first few days the amount in your system is very small though, so if you stopped taking it then it would be at negligible levels fairly soon.

I think perhaps I have some anxiety about taking it. A massive part of me thinks I shouldn’t need to take it. I should be able to calorie count/exercise and shift the weight.

i was scared when it was an injection and i ordered the pills once they came out but i cant seem to make myself actually take them.

what you say is very sensible i take one if i feel horrible I don’t take it the next day.

Fear of the unknown is a very understandable reaction. But, side effects are usually mild and manageable if you even get any. Many people don't.

The only regret I have with starting on weight loss medication (Mounjaro injections for me) was not starting sooner!

i received mine yesterday and was going to wait until Sunday when my husband was around to properly look after the kids if I was ill. But I just decided to take it this morning and see what happened. I took mounjaro last year and was so ill on it, I only lasted 3 weeks and had to give up. So I was anxious about this tablet and being sick etc. however, so far so good. I felt a little bit nauseous about 2 hours after taking it but that went quickly and feel fine! I know it needs to build up but the first time I took mounjaro I felt awful! So I would go for it and see what happens, if it do

Im on day 24, I felt the same as you, expected something bad to happen but have had no adverse reaction, I'm moving on to 4mg next. I read up as much as I could about the tablet and had the right food stuffs in ready, google ai is really good,I write what im having for my meals and get it to rate them calculating protein and calories and suggestions, you can get it to give you meal plans for days ahead with food you have in. I have never once felt nauseous on MJ or really had any negative symptoms! Definitely just do it, there are so many positive side effects - obviously weight loss and also lower inflammation, improvement in other conditions as well.

Well I took it! I think I was just overthinking everything. I felt a bit off -but no worse then if I’d had a couple of glasses of wine the night before! I was absolutely fine.

My husband is very anti weight loss drugs I haven’t told him I’ve started them. I think the thought of taking them in the morning without him noticing was stressing me out.

i also usually wake up thirsty and down lots of water so not being able to drink for 30 mins seemed like a worry.

Good luck. It’s a shame your DH is not supportive, but it’s nothing to do with him anyway. Have you listened to the ‘fat science’ podcast? Would recommend if you’re feeling insecure about the medication.

Onwards and downwards. This is the first day of your new life as a slimmer person. Thankfully, my DH was supportive and helped me with the first jab (mounjaro) and he’s been incredibly supportive ever since as he’s seen what a huge positive difference they’ve made to my life.

I’m planning to tell him once I’ve done a month and can hopefully show him the progress I’ve made.

I don’t feel he really gets it. I think he thinks that weight loss is easy just eat less and move more.

I will give “fat science” a listen

You see this is the power of social media where those that have not suffered adverse side effects have no need to post as don’t even notice the drug in their system.
So your perception of the drug effects is screwed.
