Due to inject my first dose of Mounjaro 2.5mg and now I am petrified!

I keep finding excuses not to start. Doom scrolling on google, TikTok and instagram coming across all good and bad on mounjaro but the bad seems to stand out to me more and it’s putting me off 😩 so scared I will end up in A&E, having a panic attack and thinking it’s a side effect to the jab or become very unwell!

Please give me that push I need! Some encouragement and positivity! Thanks in advance!

Do you have health anxiety? I mean it’s a bit weird the first time bur you can’t even feel it, just watch a video or two, read rhe instructions and do it. I don’t think any one has ended up in an and e due to one injection. You’d be the first.

Bonkers1966 · 04/08/2026 19:42

Just watch it on YouTube. Even if you are ND it's doable. 4mm needle.

Biosblbay · 04/08/2026 19:45

@Rumpledandcrumpled very bad health anxiety but I need help with loosing weight. After my two babies it just seems impossible and the pounds aren’t shifting at all!

Go for it! I was terrified the first time too - a year or so later, I don't even think about it! Good luck - it's worth it. It can change your life.

MabelMoo23 · 04/08/2026 19:51

I did my first jab on Sunday night. Most anti climatic thing ever. Didn’t feel it, and have had zero side effects.

the advice I’ve read is to take it out the fridge a good 15-30 mins beforehand so it has a chance to take the chill off it so it stings less

but I’ve honestly had zero side effects

PearlsTeapot · 04/08/2026 19:54

My only regret is not starting sooner :)

You'll be the same. Go for it, any side effects are gone within 2 days or so anyway and the huge vast majority of people have none.

GiveMeWordGames · 04/08/2026 19:56

You've carried around for nine months and given birth to two human beings. 😁 This is peanuts in comparison.

Go for it. The chances are you'll have mild or no side effects, and you'll lose weight happily and wonder what you were scared of. And you're not signing a pact with the devil. You can stop if it doesn't suit you.

Biosblbay · 04/08/2026 20:00

@GiveMeWordGames I love this! And with my second pregnancy which was only a year ago was the worst for sickness, I was vomiting daily for 22 weeks so what you have said is so true!

@FlorenceLawrence@MabelMoo23@PearlsTeapotthank you for the encouraging words. The minute I put my baby to bed I am going to make a start! I just hope I get it right!

I DONE IT GUYS! Trying my absolute hardest not to have a panic attack. There is the possibility I could have one in the night, it’s just due to me overthinking, the anticipation and worrying but I need to just tell myself it’s just a panic attack and not the mounjaro!

Well done @Biosblbay . If you have any relaxation/sleep exercises, use those. When you go to bed, think about the future: the clothes you want to buy and the things you want to be able to do with your kids as they get older and how much easier those things will be.

JustPickleRick · 04/08/2026 21:51

Well done! It's the best decision you'll make :)

I was you last august. Now i'm 4 stone 5 pounds lighter! I had very minimal side effects like most people so try and focus on the success stories rather than the negative ones. Well done again 👏

FlorenceLawrence · 04/08/2026 21:52

Well done! Just tell your panicking brain that a bit of nausea/dizziness is completely normal, nothing to worry about - and you never know, you'll probably be one the (majority) that have no side effects.
I found I slept more, so have a nice early night.

Mamafromthebeach · 04/08/2026 21:53

Yay! Well done - I started a few days ago too and so far so good with minimal side effects. There is an August 2026 starters thread here as well if you are keen to join!

Oh, yes. I meant to say this. Join your month starter thread. I found mine an invaluable source of info and support and chat.

Rumpledandcrumpled · 04/08/2026 22:00

Honestly you will be completely fine, better than fine.x

SheDoesntEvenGoHerex · 04/08/2026 22:19

Well done OP!
I was the same. I was absolutely shitting it to be frank and I did it, couldn’t sleep all night waiting for side effects, had massive anxiety all night, actual heart palpitations! Guess what, no side effects at all from the MJ.
just massively worked myself up 🤣
you’ll be fine!
good luck!

Biosblbay · 05/08/2026 07:50

@Mamafromthebeachooo yes please. How do I locate that? It’s there a way you can send me the link to that thread. No doubt I will be asking questions on there! A little bit of nausea this morning and upset stomach/ trapped wind feeling but it could also be down to lack of sleep last night due to my children (12 month old is teething and when she cries it sets off my 3 year old!). But nothing unbearable, first trimester of pregnancy is much worse than how I am feeling now!

I have been on it two years. Best thing I ever did! I have lost 6.5 stone and maintained for a year. I too worried as it was so new but have had very little issues.

My key advice is not to drink anything fizzy and avoid fried foods

Rumpledandcrumpled · 05/08/2026 08:09

The first injection is a little traumatic for everyone, then it gets easier every week, now I do it in seconds, with pretty much no thought, give it a sterile wipe. Shove the needle on, prime, wipe my tummy, inject, take needle off, shove it in sharps bin, wipe pen with sterile wipe. Shove it back in fridge, if it takes me more than a minute I’d be surprised,

PearlsTeapot · 05/08/2026 17:47

Well done for being brave!
