I had to stop 5 weeks ago as I had to go abroad suddenly and I did not organise my order online. I am starting again tomorrow. In these 5 weeks I noticed the food noise and hunger back and I have put kg 2.5 on (bmi 31). Gutted but wish me well!

It's amazing how quickly the hunger comes back isn't it? I had to stop for a week due to illness and at the end I was proper belly rumbling hungry no matter what I ate! I really do wish you well. I presume Mouranjo? What does will you be starting on comparred to what you were on?

justsaxy · 26/07/2026 20:51

Good luck!!!!

my endocrinologist has told me that it is a medication for life, and the plan for maintenance is to half dose once I have reached goal.

hoarahloux · 26/07/2026 21:14

It really doesn't work as well restarting. I was much sicker and lost almost no weight after a 12 week break.

morbidcuriosity · 26/07/2026 21:59

good luck, everyone is different.. A friend had a few months off and has restarted.. she went up to 7.5 before, now she is back on 5mg and says its working...

I only did 3 months previously and I was on 2.5mg. I was losing an average of 1kg/1.2kg per week which was perfect for me as I don’t want loose skin.

Thank you all. Now I have to look for the cheapest pharmacy.

Hi, Sorry to hiijack your thread Starting. I just wanted to ask Justsaxy if you have diabetes too? I was put on Mouranjo six weeks ago by my endochrinologist (Also have an as yet unmedicated over active thyroid, hence endochrinologist.) to reduce weight and blood sugar/Hba1c.

Outofspace · 26/07/2026 22:30

I restarted, admittedly after a longer break, but it was just as effective thankfully and kicked in immediately. I'm almost back at goal and looking into ways of maybe staying on a very low maintenance dose. My challenge is that I've not gone over 2.5mg this time, don't want the cost of monthly pens, and would want to maintain at half of that again, so not sure about suppliers etc for micro dosing.

Good luck @Holidays2026 hope it works well for you

Like half a dose of the 2.5? Didn't think they officially allowed that, but maybe it's different if you have a consultant?

justsaxy · 27/07/2026 02:50

@Openmouthinsertfood, no I don’t have diabetes but I was insulin resistant, (which I have now reversed).

@Pistachiocakei was taking wegovy previously, so she has changed me over to M for 6-12 months and then the plan is that I will go back to W, and half dose, as it is a lot cheaper. (And easier to half dose!). She didn’t mention titrate down the levels, I have only heard of that on here, tbh.

That’s not really how it works, whilst losing 2lbs a week or less can minimise it, it’s all about how much you lose, your genetics, skin elasticity, how long you were over weight, how stretched your skin was etc, as well as a lot of other things, like how you work out and how toned you are.

I lost 6 and a half stone, at about 2lbs a week, no loose skin, but I was only fat for about 3 years, hit bmi 32 and went on the meds, as couldn’t get it off due to a lot of medical issues, now bmi 20 and have been for about 18 months. Skin shrunk back but I ate my protein, worked out most days, moisturised all over each day, drank 3 litres of water daily and avoided alcohol during the weight loss phase,

if you want to avoid loose skin, it’s a much more holistic approach required and nothing will guarantee prevention,

Great thanks! How did you work out? What did you do specifically?

Hi justsaxy I'm insulin resistant too, it's good to hear you've reversed it and it can be done.
Hey Holidays2026, it's good you got a reaction on the lowest dose. I understand about the loose skin worry. I've lost just over a stone but have sagging inner thighs and slightly crepey stomach already (My skin never did have much elasticity.). I started a thread on Style and Beauty asking for reconmendations for an at home skin firming device. I've been looking at a few but it's a bit confusing!

Great thanks! How did you work out? What did you do specifically?

Quite a lot to be honest so I’m not a great example here.

i work out 5-6 days a week as said . I do about 15 mins in the morning, in the house before I do anything else.ma mix of planks, squats, core etc, then I tend to go 30 -45 mins in the gym, I have a home one. Running made ghe biggest difference to my core. I tend to run fast on the treadmill for ten to twenty mins, I then do things like 10 mins on rower, ten on bike, eliptical or climber, all max resistance, then every other day I do full upper body weights.

no one needs to do this much, I enjoy it, but muscle is key. I’d say make sure you move and try to exercise most days, even if only for 20 mins, and focus on strength.

one thing id say is losing weight is just a part of the story, you really do need to work out snd do strength training, as you lose weight, and eat your protein. Min 1g per kg of body weight.

Becaude sadly I can promise if you don’t, lose skin will be the least of your issues when you hit goal, your body will look like a melted candle,

protecting muscle at all costs during the weight loss phase is critical. It’s impossible or nearly impossible to build muscle in a defecit, but you want to lose fat and not muscle, as much as possible, then when you hit goal go into body recomp maintaning your weight, losing any remaining fat you have in excess and replacing it with muscle. Up your protein to a min of 1,5g per kg of body weight, take 5g of creatine daily.

i also moisturise daily, all over, I dint know if it’s the product or the massage motion, but it hugely improves skin tone and I drink 3 litres of water, hydrated skin always looks better.

muscle is active, it burns a lot more cals than fat when at rest.. So the more you have the more you can eat when at goal. And it’s key for core stability. Ie being able to get up out a chair when we are older, without help.

A lot of loose skin is due to poor muscle tone, particularly bingo wings, under backside, stomachs and thighs,

ive lost count of the amount of posts and images I’ve seen from people who have not done it, their focus was on the number on the scales, and then when they hit goal don’t like what they see, with saggy empty boobs, flabby loose tummies and flat backsides, thighs with fat sort of drooping down, people who can’t even do a squat or hold a plank for a few seconds they’ve lost so much muscle. People think it’s the meds which make you lose muscle, it isn’t. It’s how you lose the weight.

Sure you can hide it with clothes, and it might not be relevant to you, but if you want to like whay you see naked or in swimwear, then this focus is just as important as the number on the scales. If you want to look toned it doesn’t happen without work.

now some people simply can’t avoid it, it’s genetics, how long you were overweight, how stretched the skin is, but it sure as hell helps everyone, even if not doing much for appearance.

for me, I had some light crepy skin when I hit goal, on my arms, some on my tummy, and some under my backside, which was gone within six months, when I hit goal you could, see I’d lost weight when you saw me naked or in swimwear, even though it was minor, now you’d never know. I have muscle definition all over snd my skin is tight. Just the normal texture of someone my age.

and I’m in my 50s. My daughter who is always brutally honest, when I hit goal told me you could see it in parts of me, and I looked a bit thin due to it, and a few months ago, said you jist look a normal healthy weight now and very fit, like you’ve always been like that.

I was the same weight at both points of these comments.

And when she made the comment that I looked a healthy weight, I was a size smaller than when she said you could tell, at a size 8 rather than a 10, due to dropping more body fat and increasing muscle mass, skin tightening as it does anyway, and being filled with muscle.

genuinely it’s really important, losing weight at a pound a week isn’t what’s going to stop lose skin, it really isn’t. Protecting muscle, throughout weight loss with consistent exercise and protein consumption, then going into body recomp when at goal is what will do it for you if you are able to avoid it.

MeridaBrave · 28/07/2026 20:14

There is no such thing as “toned”. I assume you mean - depends on how muscular you are.

Bloodysquishies · 28/07/2026 22:05

I’ve started again in March after a year off. Last year while i did lose quite a bit of weight, i felt unwell with it. Lost it over about a 3-4 month period. Following a steady increase in dose.
This year i took my time and stayed on 2.5 for 2-3 months. Now im only just increasing to 3.75-4 and have been feeling a lot better energy wise and even managed some exercise.
I agree though that it is for life. Not sure I will be able to fund it forever but I definitely enjoy seeing results.
Good Luck
