I have an CFS/fibro and Im short on energy. Instead of going through all the posts can I ask some quick questions please?

I can’t exercise, how much protein will I need per day?

How much water do I need each day

If I need electrolytes, why, which ones and how much

Have people still lost weight without calorie counting? Im currently maintaining my weight & I don’t do this. Excess weight mainly from no moving around and too many treats!

And a more difficult one, I have no gallbladder. Am I at a higher risk of pancreatitis even with no gallbladder?

if I did eat something fatty or sugary does that mean I will feel or be sick? Do people cut it out 100%?
Thanks everyone

I have no gall bladder and haven't had any issues. The key is to aim for a steady loss, not a fast one, I think. I lost 2lb a week for the first 4 months then it slowed down.
I haven't felt sick on the occasions I've had fat / sugar.
I don't think you need electrolytes at all if you have a healthy diet, however I have got in the habit of having one each morning, partly because I like it and it makes me drink half a litre of water before my day has even really got going.

disclaimer- I don’t know how lack of gallbladder would influence these.

My clinician advised 1g of protein for each kg of body weight eg 100g if you are 100kg. I am usually over this target.

Fibre is 25-30g a day regardless of weight, I believe. I usually hit 25g but rarely hit 30. Similarly, water is 2-3 litres a day regardless of weight. I aim for 2 but don’t count coffee and tea as drinks, so I am hopefully overshooting a little.

I haven’t cut out fats and sugars although I have wanted those kind of foods less. I’ve had one dessert since going on the jabs and that was a special occasion set menu

I do track calories and I think I would find it very difficult without. I use nutracheck and have set it up to show protein fibre and calories so I can track them all on the homepage.

Unfortunately the food noise has died down so much I barely eat. I don't count calories. However I get weighed weekly at Slimming World so I'm accountable and try to eat low fat meals. However I've lost nearly all interest in what I eat, I'm happy to have tomatoes on toast or a bowl of cereal for my tea and that is enough whereas before we'd be talking four mini spring rolls, six hash browns, a battered frozen fish and a few oven chips. Anything beige went in the oven, a single portion would probably last me three days now.

The thought of cooking a meal fills me with dread. Quite often I'll have an Aldi Peri Peri protein pot or steak with peppercorn sauce and a few mushrooms and nothing else and I'm totally stuffed. I'm one pound away from my target weight at Slimming World.

I eat loads of fruit, admittedly not much in the way of vegetables and take vitamins. I've lost 4 stone 5 lbs now. Started Feb 2025.
