Can I stop 10mg Mounjaro cold turkey for a couple weeks?

I’ve been on MJ for over a year. I’m now below my goal weight and want to start tapering down the doses but I’m currently on 10mg and have a two-week holiday coming up soon. I want to enjoy the holiday & the food (plus have lost more than I want to anyway so happy to put a few pounds back on) so was thinking of skipping 2 or 3 weeks’ injections then going onto 7.5mg when I come back. Has anyone skipped a few weeks on or around 10mg? Will I get any withdrawal effects by stopping it suddenly? Or is 3 weeks not long enough to get any withdrawals? Any advice appreciated :)

I don't think it's a good idea to stop suddenly. Why don't you slowly taper down?

There is no withdrawal in a medical sense, it’s perfectly safe to just stop taking it. It will remain in your system, gradually reducing for 30 days until it’s all gone. So there will still be a fairly high level in your system after your last dose. If you miss 3 weeks then the amount remaining will be quite low and the jump back up to 7.5mg might result in side effects.

I would start tapering down now and continue taking it whilst away. What was your long term plan for maintaining?

Thank you. I haven’t thought much about my long-term plan for maintaining. Originally my plan was to just stop when I reached my goal weight. I’m now half a stone below my goal and my bmi is 20. I’m starting to look too skinny and i don’t like it, so it’s not the end of the world if I put on half a stone while I’m away. I do realise after being on it for a year however, that it’s really just a quick fix and I’m likely to eventually put all the weight back on if I come off it completely. So I’d like to maybe stay on 2.5 monthly for maintenance, at least for a couple years.

I’m wondering why I’ve read on here about when people want to come off it they have to “titrate down the doses”? Why don’t they just stop? Or switch straight onto a low maintenance dose if there’s no medical withdrawals? It’s those threads that got me thinking there must be some kind of withdrawal in the first place!

Just titrate down, go to 7.5 then 5, see how you feel. The hunger will come back , don’t worry,

People go down the doses because they feel like that works best for them rather than a hard stop. It's not about withdrawal, it's about going from being supported by medication to stopping that medication and managing without. You can absolutely choose to stop immediately if that's what you want to do and you are happy to manage your diet without the support of the medication.

Have done similar, you will be fine to do as you plan.
If less than 4 week break no need to drop a dose level unless you want to do so.
