Using stash

I have built a stash up - probably enough to last me 4 months. I did this by ordering 10mg pens and counting clicks as I've only ever taken 5mg max. My BMI is now 26.

I have always been with the same pharmacy, Cloud. If I ask to change to a cheaper treatment, for example Orlistar or Saxenda (even if I don't take it I will still have saved money), and just use my stash instead, after a few months am I likely to be able to switch back to Mounjaro to lose the last few pounds or for maintenance? Even if they make me start again at 2.5, that would be fine by me. I'm just worried about not being prescribed it at all.

I actually think I'll be on this for life. I am on 5mg. I started at BMI 30.

Check out https://monj.co.uk/mounjaro-price-comparison-by-monj/

They have restart and maintenance pharmacies listed.

I'm not sure Saxenda would work well enough after Mounjaro and Orlistat has a terrible reputation.

Things change so by the time you’re ready for maintenance, the pharmacies might have different rules in place.

I think if you ensure you keep all your evidence of being on MJ for a long period, that will help.

Lindaahuume · 19/07/2026 13:38

Thank you so much @itsanamething I will look at that. I wouldn't actually take the Orlistat as I would be using my stash.
Ordering the Orlistat would just be a placeholder if that makes sense. But I'll look at the website you posted thank you

I think if your BMI is 26 you’ll have issues getting it again.
I think you usually have to be over BMI 30 or 27 if you have certain medical conditions so I don’t think you’d be able to get it xx

I tried swapping from Mounjaro to Wegovy and it just doesn’t compare at all. MJ is the king for me. I totally get what you mean about being on it forever, I came off over Xmas, put about 6lbs on and just could not shift it. And the cravings were back within a week so back on MJ. Just wish it wasn’t so expensive xx

Lindaahuume · 19/07/2026 13:47

I feel the same @Elfie23 it is ££, even if I am having such a positive experience. When you're on such a low dose and you see it's not much dearer to get bigger dose it feels like a lot to be handing over every month. Hence why I succumbed to the temptation to build a stash.....

That's not the case. If you can evidence you've been on weightloss medication and reached a BMI below 25 some pharmacies will let you restart at a later stage. The website above is a wealth of up-to-date information.

morbidcuriosity · 19/07/2026 15:15

Pharmalous will let you start again within 12 months of stopping .. and they support maintence.. its why I switched to them now my bmi is lower..

Elfie23 · 19/07/2026 15:41

@itsanamething That’s handy to know! I didn’t think any pharmacies would allow it so that’s good to know there are some out there that will. I’ll check out that web link - thank you ☺️

You can go to Swift Doctor for maintenance. You can take a gap of a year, the first pen will have to be 2.5mg. I’d use up the stash, try and titrate down to 2.5mg and when you run out order from Swift .

WeAllHaveWings · Yesterday 09:47

I had a consultation call with Swift Doctor, was honest with them and agreed an ordering break, and they have noted on my file a break until October to use up some of my pens.

That doesn’t use up my entire stash but puts a good dent into it. They weren’t keen on much longer. Will try for another break at a later date.

@WeAllHaveWings do Swift inform your doctor? Thank you

@Lindaahuume I can’t remember if they asked for GP details, I would have just entered them if they did and I can’t check (I’m in Scotland so don’t have an nhs app)
