Has anyone used online doctors for weight loss injections?

Hi all.
40 year old woman here. Young children. Lifelong obesity battle. Toying with idea of a GLP1 for months now. Beginning to think I should just bite the bullet. My weight has fluctuated about 1kg in the past year. I can't do this on my own. But, I don't want to have this discussion with the local GP.

Has anyone used the online dr for something like weight loss meds?

I should add I'm 5ft 2 and 101kg :(

Most are. GPs don’t prescribe in England unless you have specific criteria ( which you may have)
I used MedExpress

I went through Juniper and have had no problems at all with them. As I understand it, there are strict criteria for being prescribed on the NHS and you need to have several serious conditions before they’ll consider it - but I did let my GP know I was getting this prescribed privately so that they have a record of it, and they were fine about it (actually quite curious about how I’m getting along with it).

OP- Are you referring to a specific company or any, generic, online Dr for weight loss meds??? I'm not really sure what your question is?

I did a alot of research before starting. I don't qualify for weight loss support via my GP, but do/did have a BMI of 39. There is a mounjaro and wegovv list which has multiple, UK suppliers. I can't recall now why (maybe MN) but I started with Swift Doctor. I checked the Dr's on their website against the GMC register- to check they were indeed medical Dr's. I also checked their pharmaceutical registrations. So yes, I have and am currently using an online Dr for weight loss medications.

Do you mean the online pharmacies? Most of us have, I think. Have you looked at monj.co.uk ?

Whatdidyoujustcallme · 17/07/2026 00:06

I’m with Bolt and they’re fab. Fast, reasonable and very responsive. I was 13.8 when I started, I’m 9.10 just over a year on.

PM me for a money off code.

your GP is very unlikely to be able to prescribe bundles you comply with the very strict criteria for nhs access so you will need to go privately and online us the easiest for many people.

I went with The Independent Pharmacy, and like I'm sure all the other online pharmacies people use you will have to fill out an online health questionnaire.

I had to upload a full length photo of myself and confirm my current weight and my desired weight.

My prescription was approved really quickly (I used this company because I've used in the past to I trust them although they may not be the cheapest). It was despatched as soon as it had been approved arrived discretely and in a cool bag.

I consented to them allowing telling my GP that I'm now taking Weygovy and I have checked my NHS app and I can see their letter to my GP so it's on my NHS health records but I'm fine with that.

On a side note I invested in a set of smart weighing scales, which have been so so good. I've been taking Weygovy for 4 1/2 weeks, lost half a stone and more important my BMI has gone from 28 to 27, and I can see all the other important indications slowly moving down. I have made a real conscious effort to eat a lot more protein, I go to the gym anyway, but I'm using this as an aid to change my lifestyle so when I come off it I won't hopefully put the weight back on. It's not magic you have to work with it.

Good luck 😄

I have previously ordered through Cloud Pharmacy, Voy, Medexpress and Juniper. So straightforward - sometimes they ask for your GP details but I never had to go see my GP about it. Go for it! It will help you no end 🙏🏻

WeAllHaveWings · 17/07/2026 08:16

For prices at safe GPhC registered pharmacies try -

monj.co.uk - for Mounjaro
igovy.co.uk - for Wegovy injections
ogovy.co.uk - for Wegovy tablets (newly available this month)

Most of the pharmacies are led by and can be prescribed by pharmacists. Some, such as Swift Doctor, are doctor led if you prefer that.

Most pharmacies you will fill in an online consultation and will approve and prescribe from the information you provide. If you have a straightforward medical history it is that simple. Many pharmacies will ask for your GP details so they can inform them.

It is worth doing you homework to find out more about the medications before deciding which one to try and before starting.

Hi again.

I thought I had included in the first post that I am from Ireland, but I didn't. Apologies.
I am in the Republic and just assumed my GP was my first port of call, but in all honesty I would prefer someone who didn't know me - I'd find the conversation face to face tricky.

You should have said you’re from Ireland as the above advice won’t apply. Pharmacies in England won’t sell to customers in Ireland as it’s a hassle to post stuff following bloody Brexit, so there’s no point looking at those websites.

I’m down in Cork and I can buy MJ/Wegovy etc. directly from my local independent pharmacy but it’s a lot more expensive over here than the online UK prices. If you don’t want to discuss WLI with your GP, then visit a few local pharmacies and have a private chat and see what they can offer.

After speaking to my local pharmacist and getting all the basic info. about the jab options plus prices, I decided to see my GP as she’s always been very good. I laid on how desperate I felt about losing the weight (I was bmi 39) and she was amazing! She wrote me a prescription for Mounjaro and pointed me to a Pharmacy in NI who will post down to Cork using DPD next day delivery. They post them with special freeze packs and a wool wrapping so the pen is still very cold when it arrives and only post out at the beginning of the week to ensure the package doesn’t get stuck somewhere over the weekend. So I send them my written prescription for 6 months supply and pay average UK prices plus postage which is still cheaper than buying them locally.

You can’t order online from the Pharmacy up north directly, like you can in England. They will only sell to you if you supply a GP prescription. I think there are only a couple of pharmacies in NI that will post the medication down to us.

I’m hoping that when I start maintenance, I can switch to the Wegovy pills and maybe buy them locally instead.

Hope this is helpful?

KrazyKatty · 19/07/2026 09:45

To add, there are a few online pharmacies in Ireland that you can order from but they’re no cheaper than your local pharmacy plus you’d pay extra for postage, so I don’t think they’re worth bothering with unless you prefer anonymity.

At least if you speak to your GP or Pharmacist in person, you can get ongoing support and advice whenever you need it.

I felt exactly the same before starting and was nervous about bringing it up too. I ended up using shemed with Wegovy, and the online process felt straightforward and supportive for me. It made taking that first step much less overwhelming, and I wish I'd done it sooner.
