Bolt Pharmacy - how does the flexible subscription work?

PuzzledObserver · 15/07/2026 02:44

A subscription you can cancel any time, with no penalty - how does that work, then? Effectively a monthly plan (well, every 4 weeks) which repeats unless you cancel it?

Anyone using them? How do you find them?

MJ is £129 for the first pen and £149 for subsequent ones, but that’s at the lowest dose. Anyone know their prices for higher doses, cos I can’t find them on their site.

The prices are on this page:

https://www.boltpharmacy.co.uk/mounjaro

Just change the dose to see the prices for each one.

From what I can tell the subscription just gives you a cheaper price than a one off purchase. Haven’t used them myself though.

I had a problem with Bolt and found their customer service awful. Ended up having to get my credit card company involved to get my money back.

I would however very much recommend Curely instead.

Curely has a flexible subscription which you can pause or cancel at anytime and their customer service is fabulous. Direct phone number answered promptly by polite human beings.

I have tried six different suppliers throughout my time on mounjaro but I stick to Curely now.

Manchestermummax2 · 15/07/2026 09:30

I agree with the PP, I have found curely to be great.
Often there is only a few pounds between prices & I am happy to pay 3 or 4 pounds more than the cheapest for the customer service & reliability of delivery. Plus the faff of jumping through the hoops each time you use a new supplier.
I also use get weightloss & no issues with them either.
Both have been delivered via royal mail.

Thanks for the feedback. I think I was just sucked in by their advertising which talks about being economic….. they may even say they are the cheapest, but I can see now that isn’t true anyway.

OP posts:
roshi42 · 15/07/2026 12:04

They constantly come up on my Facebook feed going on about how cheap they are… according to that link they’re relatively expensive! Not sure that false advertising gives me much confidence in them!

PuzzledObserver · 15/07/2026 12:57

Yeah, it’s probably fb where I came across them.

I'm with Bolt. Have been for about 4 months and have had no problems but I didn't do any price comparison with other prescribers. I think i'm on the subscription plan- you pay monthly and then they send you a check-in to organise your next pen about 10-14 days before your current one runs out.

Have you gone up in dose with them? How does that work?

@Ratherhaveacupofteaandabiscuit @Manchestermummax2

After your recommendations I ordered from Curley and received my first pen then Friday before last, so have injected twice. So far so good.

What surprises me is that I have had no follow up from them at all. No encouraging email asking me how I’ve been getting on and pointing to resources about how to deal with any side effects. I seem to be able to change what I order and the date, with nothing to stop me. And although there is a place to record my weight progress, there is nothing to suggest how often I ought to report it. I mean, I’m not complaining, because I am looking forward to being able to adjust my dosing myself without having to argue or justify it. But it just seems very light touch to me.

What is your experience? Do they follow up at all, or is it entirely in my hands?

Hiya, glad you've had a largely positive experience so far.
When i ordered my 2nd pen (5mg) I was sent a message asking how I was getting on, side effects, weight etc before they would prescribe again. I believe you can order whatever you like but it needs to be approved by the pharmacist after, so ordering a 10mg for example would be refused/questioned.

Other than that I've largely been left alone which I'm personally fine with.
If you have access to reddit there are loads of forums on there that are uk based with a wealth of info.

Can I ask what “ordering your 2nd pen” consist of? I signed up to the subscription so as to get cheaper prices, and it has automatically generated an order for another 2.5mg. Although it put the date as more than 4 weeks after the first one, so I have altered it to be 4 weeks minus a couple of days, to make sure it comes in time.

Plus, have you ever tried changing the intervals at which you get pens, e.g. if you want to pause taking it for a while, or short-dose in order to make a pen last longer? Any issues with doing that?

I had a terrible experience with Bolt. They took my money then ghosted me! Wouldn’t tell me when my pen would be dispatched and ignored my whats app messages. I eventually got a refund and switched to Lotus who’ve been very good.

I’m interested in this. A friend using Bolt kept upping the dose she ordered, but using the original low dose that was working for her. She sort of slowly built up a stock of pens so she doesn’t need to order as often, I think, and each pen lasts longer than it should.

Can you do that with all of them, do you think?

thewhitebags · 23/08/2026 18:58

I was totally put off Bolt by their disingenuous ads. They claim to be the cheapest but they’re certainly not.

7238SM · 23/08/2026 19:32

OP, I'd suggest you find the August mounjaro starters thread. I'm part of the May one and I found it very supportive in terms of side effects, moving up doses, where to buy, experiences etc from others who are going through it at the same time as you.

I recall someone on there saying that tried moving up a dose with bolt, send off the pics etc and were sent the same dose pen they'd already been on for 2mths- with no explanation. People talk about £100 off with Bolt. TBH, I don't care if its £1,000 off or nothing off- I want a safe provider for the best price! My first provider was Swift Doctor and I do recall they sent an email a few weeks in to check how I was doing. They also had the option to speak to a Dr if/when needed.

So you can edit the date as you've discovered. It will automatically select the dose that you are currently on but you cam just change that in the drop down box.
I *think you can leave about 6 weeks between orders without problem but ive never personally gone more than 5.

You will end up with a bit of a stock pile by short dosing, but as long as you can afford it then it's no problem.
I'm currently taking 5 from a 10mg pen so that last 8 weeks.

Some are more strict than others i think.
I personally haven't gone longer than 5 weeks so do have a stock pile.
My plan is to keep ordering every month until I'm close to goal, then will use my stash to try to titrate down & maintain.
