Anyone found 5mg brutal?

I injected my first 5mg on Saturday morning, Sunday was ok but this morning I woke up with the most horrendous sulphur burps that have carried on all day, I feel nauseous and exhausted and had a nasty bout of diarrhoea. 2.5mg was a breeze, is this normal for 5mg?

Any tips?

Thanks.

My experience was 2.5mg was a breeze so combined the golden dose and the final dose and went up to 5mg early. The first couple of weeks were fine and then the third week the side effects hit. Horrendous diarrhoea which would start on the 3rd night after dosing and last a couple of days and extreme appetite suppression. The following week I got vomiting as well as diarrhoea on the third night after dosing. I stayed on 5.0mg for a second pen to see if I would get used to the dose and I did get one week with no vomiting but the next dose was as bad as always. Someone advised me to go up to 7.5mg which I was reluctant to because logically a higher dose - worse side effects but actually 7.5mg was great. Slight appetite suppression, no nausea, no diarrhoea. Stayed on that for 2 pens but weight loss slowed so went up to 10mg… third week of that and appetite suppression worse than on 5.0mg - don’t want food at all. Can’t even face a boiled egg. Even drinking is difficult as my stomach is saying it’s full all the time. I’ve been surviving off huel drinks this week which is not healthy. I’m going to try 8.75mg next. Wish me luck

@RobinHumphries

Why on earth are you increasing the dose when you’re already getting huge appetite suppression?? It’s just not necessary and is counter productive.

Also, the higher the dose, the more expensive your weight loss journey will be.

Have a play around with the GLP-1 plotter website to learn how the drug accumulates in your body. For instance, I ignored that you took 10mg and assumed you went to 8.75mg from 7.5mg and you’ll see you have about 12mg of MJ in your body! Obviously, adding in the 10mg, it’s even higher!

I did a quick play and here’s a visual of your current journey.

Thank you, it was what I was advised to do. If I knew what I know now I would be going a lot slower and micro dosing more but it was weird that on 7.5mg I felt like I was back on 2.5mg with very little food suppression and a bit of food noise and my weight loss had stalled so felt I needed to go up. I’ve only had a brief bout of diarrhoea and nausea but no vomiting so the side effects in some ways have been better but the appetite suppression is too much.

AndAllOurYesterdays · 15/07/2026 12:39

I was fine on 2.5 but found 5mg made me really anxious and low. I went back down to 3mg and feel fine. Everyone reacts slightly differently. Agree with the poster above, if you are loosing weight and have low appetite on 2.5 then stick with it as long as possible.

Gardenflowering · 15/07/2026 13:05

It’s so bad for me I even feel sick getting it out of the fridge before injecting.
I put it off for days because I just can’t face feeling so unwell and nauseous.
But staying fat is not an option so I do it and suffer.

MJ is without doubt a game changer, miracle medication that has worked for me, like nothing else ever has.
But it is yet another period of time trying to get weight off that means suffering.

20 years of weight watchers, slimming world, keto, Cambridge, vegan, low carb, plant based, intermittent fasting which have each come with suffering, hunger & guilt. Now MJ with the nausea, brain fuzziness, feeling rough for 4 out of 7 days.

It’s utter dog shit. As it has always been.

I had this and I had to be really careful with what I ate - not too much and nothing too greasy or sweet. Just small amounts of really plain food. It settled down but I’ve been on it for over a year and I’ve never gone above 7.5.

I read this exact advice on an older forum when I first started. It seems counter intuitive and I have no idea if its mind over matter or your body is just getting used to a higher dose, but I'm glad it helped you @RobinHumphries

EmeraldDreams73 · 15/07/2026 13:50

I was so poorly on 7.5 (and the food noise came back anyway) that I gave up completely and am still fat. No point being skint, ill and still bloody starving!! I hope you're able to find a way of managing it.

If you've found your current dose has been working really well for you (as your post suggests) but you're having bad side effects, then have you considered trying a lower dose?

Gardenflowering · 15/07/2026 16:57

Yep. I’ve lowered the dose and remained on it for almost 3 months now. Still feel dreadful.

@Gardenflowering I really feel for you because I’m exactly the same. Tried every shitty diet going then finally thought I could shift some weight with Mounjaro because all I ever read about it how amazing it is but now I’m so unwell and feel shocking!

Diarrhoea overnight on Monday was the worst I’ve ever had and I have IBS so I’ve had my fair share! Had to take Tuesday off of work and spent it in bed, having eaten nothing since Sunday I stupidly ate a chicken salad this evening and now I’m back to diarrhoea and stomach cramps again.

@EmeraldDreams73sorry it hasn’t worked for you, it’s so disappointing.

Thanks everyone else for the advice, I’m
genuinely scared to inject again when I feel better even a 2.5 dose.

You’ll be ok going back on 2.5 I’m sure (I was) and just go up a click a week. That’s what I’ve done and I’ve just hit 5mg now for the third time with no side effects finally.

humptydumptyfelloff · 16/07/2026 21:16

I’ve recently had this on wevovy

did four weeks on 0.25 ,then my first jab of 5 flooded me for a whole week
i felt nauseous constantly no matter what I did eat or didn’t eat.
the metallic taste was horrendous aswell and the fatigue even worse.
self employed so had no choice but to work through it for four days but literally went home and slept on the sofa all evening and then went straight to bed still feeling constantly sick.

the next jab I did 0.37 and although it settled abit I was still nauseous and every morning was like morning sickness.

I did another 0.37 on Friday just gone and still feeling constantly sick nauseous int he mornings and on the odd occasion it suddenly comes on but I can eat now.

im due to jab tomorrow but im away on holiday and really didn’t want to feel ill at all while away.

interestingly ive not fancied any of the amazing foods on offer at all and i crave lemony drinks so far

im going to go back down to 0.25 when i jab next just to try and settle it down.

my weight loss has stagnated for three weeks now but my food choices when i do eat haven’t been the best so when i get home from holiday i will up my protein again and cut the carbs out as that seemed to work the first month.

HappyWineDay · 18/07/2026 09:42

Anyone struggling with 2.5mg, I would suggest trying 1.25mg and see how you get on. You can still lose weight.

frecklejuice · 27/07/2026 10:42

Diarrhoea finally stopped and I got back to being able to eat, I went back to 2.5mg and felt fine but barely any appetite suppression. I’m due to inject this morning so I’m going to try 3mg and see how I get on!

Good luck. I had to go up one click a week til I got to 5. It took forever but was worth it! Hope you feel better this week.
