Argh, waiting for pen re-delivery in heatwave and have to collect my toddler from nursery!!

Royal Mail tried to deliver my 2 pens yesterday exactly as I left for nursery - 5.20pm. They said redelivery today but no sign yet and I have to leave at 6pm on the dot to fetch my toddler from nursery in time. This is torture! If I miss it that’s £500 wasted and I can’t afford it in the first place!!

37mins to go…

If you can't afford it. Why have you bought it?

But anyway, they give you options to change delivery to a convenient day, why didnt you do that when you missed them once already.

roshi42 · 09/07/2026 17:27

For my health.

No, they don’t, they have sent me zero tracking or emails - just the card through the door when I missed it last night. I had a text when it was dispensed Tuesday evening but no tracking and didn’t actually say when it was due. I’ve ordered from Lotus before but they’ve moved to this new distributor the last two times and it sucks!!

33mins and counting…

Can you leave a note on the door asking them to leave it somewhere safe as you’ve had to go out briefly?

Rosetime · 09/07/2026 17:31

Fingers crossed for you @roshi42

Apparently it needs signing for. The pharmacy I started with just used to leave it on the doorstep, was so much better! But I will do this if it comes to it and pray they do…

Is a note on the door a possibility saying you’ll be back at 6:10 for example?

To please leave your package in a safe place or leave with a neighbour

Thank you! It’s so stressful lol

At least toddler’s nursery is air conned, so she’s not suffering staying later.

27mins to go… 😫

They say only a signature will do, no neighbours or safe places. Annoyingly!!

I have texted friends who live nearby to see if either can come sit at mine for the next half hour… 🤞

26 mins!

Apparently according to the RM website, if they can’t deliver it today it will go back to the sorting office and you can collect it tomorrow. So that’s maybe another 14 to 16 hours from now. If it’s in insulation and with ice packs it may well be ok. I would collect it, check how cool or not it feels and get it in the fridge. Then I’d use it as normal as long as the medication is clear and not cloudy/has particulates.

This.

You beat me to it 🤣

roshi42 · 09/07/2026 17:49

Hmm… it’s not at all cold though - ice packs completely melted. And the very very end of the 48hr window for safe delivery that they give you. I hope it’s okay.

Think I’m going to email Lotus and feedback about their new delivery - it’ll put me off ordering from them again, the just not knowing when it’s due to arrive. There’s a discount for two pens at once but not worth it if the medication is less effective having been heated up during delivery!

Thanks for this - wish I’d known about potentially collecting it - I would have tried earlier today. Although I’ve not dared to leave the house in case it turned up!

Lilly have a tool that allows pharmacies to check if it’s still ok to dispense if it’s been above 8degC. I tried it at 48 hrs at 30 degC and the tool said it was fine to dispense as if nothing had happened. So I’d say you have nothing to worry about

WeAllHaveWings · 09/07/2026 18:31

@roshi42 Lotus have just partnered with LillyDirect so I guess will be changing their way or ordering soon. Did your parcel look like it came from Lotus or one of the Eli Lilly partner pharmacies - OneScript and Pharmacy2U?

That’s really good to know! I might look at that too. I’ll use one pen within the next month but the other not til after that and that’s where it seems a bit questionable if it’s been hot. But it can only have got hot towards the end of the 48hrs hopefully.

The text was from LillyDirect. I imagine they’re not going to change their way of delivering just based on my feedback.

Maybe next time I just have to remember this and a) order first thing in the morning so I know it’ll come the next day, and b) make sure to stay in all day until it does!

Thats a really great tool @HappyWineDay! Thanks!

I put in 35 degrees for a day (worst case scenario) and it said no effect so I guess they’re very cautious with their timeframes to start with to give a buffer.
