Switching from Wegovy back to Mounjaro for maintenance after weight regain

Hi all, wondering if anyone has followed the same path as me and how it worked out for you!

I started Mounjaro in Jan 2025, lost around 16kg over the course of the year and started weaning myself down by reducing clicks around December 2025. I never had to go above 5mg Mounjaro, and when I stopped I was on about 2mg. Im with Voy & as I was at my goal with a BMI of about 20.5 at my lowest, so they suggested I move to Wegovy for maintenance.

I ended up taking a break from the meds for around 6-7 weeks, and towards the end of that period, started regaining. So I decided to start taking my 0.25 wegovy pen.

My BMI is up to around 23 now, so still within healthy range but I don’t feel Wegovy is doing much for me in terms of suppression or reduction in food noise and inflammation. It also seems to be causing me constipation and disrupted sleep, though the sleep is harder to pin to the Wegovy 100%.

I’ve contacted Voy to see if they will switch me back to Mounjaro, but I’m worried that the Mounjaro won’t work as well now? Voy is also one of the more expensive providers so ideally I’d like to swap to another for maintenance, but I tried that once before and got rejected due to BMI (even though I’d said I was looking to switch to maintain).

Has anyone successfully switched from Mounjaro to Wegovy and back to Mounjaro, at low / maintenance doses? And any success stories of switching from Voy to a maintenance provider (I’d love to know which one if so!)

🙏🙏🙏

I can’t edit my post annoyingly, but the provider that rejected me when I tried to move for maintenance was IQ Doctor

I’ve done exactly that. I got up to 10mg on mounjaro but never tapered down. I switched to the equivalent of wegovy for 3 months, moving provider to facilitate this. I might as well have been injecting water for all the impact it had and started to regain a few pounds. I moved back to mounjaro and then back to my original provider, as they are best for price, and I’m now losing what I regained on 5mg. I use medicine marketplace, it’s not a specific maintenance programme but as I could provide a mounjaro prescription they were happy to take me back.

Thanks for sharing your experience @Tiree1965! Glad to hear that the MJ is working for you again. I know what you mean on the Wegovy being as good as water! I think I get maybe 1-2 days of slightly reduced appetite and that’s it. Plus constipation the whole time! Possibly Wegovy would work if I increased the dosage, but then the cost advantage against MJ doesn't work. Voy have agreed to move me back to MJ so I’ll take a look at medicine marketplace for switching next month 🙏

I followed a very similar path, starting on Wegovy before switching to MJ because it suited me better. For me, the appetite suppression came back once I restarted MJ, and I felt much more in control again. Everyone responds differently of course, but switching back worked well for me
