Help tracking down syringes please!

I’ve got a couple of golden doses left, normally I can force the pen to release but it’s not working for either of them. I gather I need 6mm insulin syringes max that hold 1ml? I can only find 8mm, or ones on Amazon that don’t seem to be medical grade. Has anyone managed to find some recently that you wouldn’t mind linking please?

I use 8mm ones which are fine, they are still considered subcutaneous.

Amazon ones are fine - I’ve used them many times with no problems at all

Thanks all. Stupid question, if I go with 8mm do I need to go in at an angle? I’m scared of going too deep (not done before).

Hello everyone, Golden Dose Questions pls.

How do I know whether the pen has a golden dose or no if I am not on my last dose yet??

I’m going away and need 3 doses. I know my pen has 2 doses left and I don’t want to take a new pen with me as I take 3.25 mg out of 5mg pen so taking a new pen with me is a waste as I am not sure I will always have access to a fridge.

@PositiveEnergyyy you can tell the difference between the pens by looking at the plunger inside the vial. The new pens have an additional black plastic spacer behind the plunger. That means the plunger starts further down the pen. Also the box and I think the pen itself has an additional serial number printed on it.

If you’re taking 3.25mg from a 5mg pen it will have 6 doses before you even get to the golden dose. Have you accounted for that?

Thank so much. Question:my first pen had the second serial number and it had a golden dose (photo 1) The pen I am using at the moment also has the second serial number (photo 2 and 3)

Do the pens with the second serial number have a golden dose?

@PositiveEnergyyy so the photo of the pen marked 2 is a new style pen with the black spacer behind it. It won't have as much medication leftover as the previous style pens. I think the confusion is that you are taking 3.25mg from a 5mg pen, so you're not doing 4 normal doses of 5mg. 3.25mg is 39 clicks from a 5mg pen, so even from a new style pen you could do 6 doses.

How many doses of 3.25mg have you taken from the pen labelled 2?

Not all the doses I took from this pen were 3.25. So in total I took about 13 mg (3.125 mg to be exact) out of the total 20 mg which is 5 mg x4 doses in total in the pen. So I have about 2X doses of just over 3.25 left in the pen Without the golden dose.

I want to know whether I have a third dose in this pen which will be the golden dose?

If there will be a bit left in the pen that is Not a full golden dose as you mentioned it is the new style pen, will it be enough for 3.25 mg dose?

How many injections have you done from this pen and what dose were they each, in mg or ml?

Either way, the old pens had 3ml of medication plus a bit more for priming. The new pens have 2.4ml of medication plus a bit more for priming. The most I’ve ever got from a pen after 4 full doses is 0.9ml. There’s now 0.6ml less in the pen, so the most you’d be able to get from the pen once you’ve used all the 2.4ml up would be 0.3ml. So not quite enough for you to do a 3.25mg dose, I think, as you’d need 0.39ml.

You are right, I need 0.39 ml and I won’t have that. From what you said, it seems that I won’t have enough. If there is 0.3 ml of a “golden dose” at most, I will only have a final dose of 2.875 mg dose at most.

Couple of questions:
How certain are you that this pen is the new style pen and hence the smaller golden dose?

I am thinking that since I will be on holiday, maybe I should take a lower dose (the final dose in the pen) to suppress my appetite enough instead of carrying a new pen. What do you think?

Hello again, this might sound s bit crazy but would really appreciate some input.
Can I use a syringe on my new pen to pull some liquid Mounjaro and inject them into my old pen to top up the doses I need from my old pen since it does have enough doe the doses i need while travelling. I want to take the old pen with me travelling instead of taking a brand new pen?

Anyone tried? Could that work?

I seriously doubt anyone has tried that, and you shouldn't either @PositiveEnergyyy . Just take the new pen. It doesn't need to be refrigerated once it's in use, as long as it's kept under 30 degrees. You can get cooling pouches that just use water to keep it under 30 degrees if you don't have a fridge.
