Any advice for a new starter?

I’m over 50 and feel like I have been overweight all of my life (currently 15st+). I’m fed up of constantly thinking about losing weight and failing, Ive decided to give the jabs a go.

I’ve been on second nature a while so considering going with them, but has anyone got any recommendations please?

how quickly will I see a difference? In time for my August holiday? 😬 Can I pause whilst on holiday?

Any factors or side effects I need to be aware of?

thank you, really appreciate anyone taking the time to respond

Have a look at this price comparison website for Mounjaro, there’s also a link to a Wegovy price comparison site on there too.

Second Nature seem a bit expensive to me.

It’s like a normal diet, if the medication works for you. You might lose a larger amount in the first week, but then you’re looking at 1 to 2 lbs a week. So you might lose 4 to 8 lbs by the start of August or a bit more. But not everyone gets the full effect from the start so you might have a more gradual process.

You can choose not to take the medication when on holiday. It will stay in your system for about 30 days, so what will happen is that the level in your blood stream will reduce over the time you stop taking it. Personally I don’t ever have a break, it’s just my regular medication so regardless of what I’m doing I just keep taking it.

Side effects…. There are so many resources online about these. Asda Online Doctor have quite a comprehensive set of pages about WLI.

I’m 60 and have lost 4 stones on MJ over 10 months.

I lost the first stone within 6 weeks but then it’s been an average of 1lb a week after that, although I’m only on 3mg as I don’t want to go up higher than I need to. I’ve got another stone to lose so happy if it takes me until Christmas to lose it.

Track calories and focus on high protein and plenty of fibre at the start would be my first piece of advice, because although you’re eating far less volume of food, you don’t want to be filling up on pointless carbs like pasta, potatoes and bread.

I've had two holidays abroad during this time and still jabbed as usual. If you still expect to pig out on holiday then you’re probably not yet in the right mindset to lose weight yet. Once you’ve lost the weight, you need to still eat like a bird if you don’t want to put it all back on again! Otherwise, what’s the point in spending all that money…?
