Anyone double dosed Mounjaro?

My last pen was 7.5mg and I have two 5mg pens in the fridge still in date, I know the suggestions is to buy a 10mg pen but I’d like to just take 2 5mg doses, has anyone done this, how did you feel. I’ve been lucky to have never had side effects, I’ve been using since December.

It's not clear what you're asking? Are you wanting to take a 7.5mg dose using 5mg pens?

I want to take 10mg by jabbing 5mg twice, one after another. I read online that this isn’t advised and can cause severe side effects like vomiting, have any of you done this?

There would be absolutely no difference whatsoever from doing 2 x 5mg or 1 x 10mg.

Surely the search results you’re getting are about someone who is on a lower dose like 5mg doing a double dose. Not about someone who is on 10mg taking 10mg. It doesn’t matter if that’s 1 x 10mg or 2 x 5mg, it’s the same amount of medication at the same time.

@AskEmAtFaces the prescribing pharmacy is just going to tell the OP to use the pens as directed and to get a 10mg pen if she wants a 10mg dose. They can’t offer any advice that goes against the approved use of the pens. She has 5mg pens, and so can easily do a 10mg dose by doing two injections of 5mg.

It’s actually similar to what the pharmacies are telling people to do who are on the newish 7.2mg dose of Wegovy. They are prescribed 3 lots of 2.4mg pens as the 7.2mg pen hasn’t been released yet, and told to take 3 injections in one go to get the 7.2mg dose.

Have a think. Why would taking 10mg in two doses cause severe vomiting and side effects when taking 10mg in one dose wouldn’t? What could be the possible mechanism and reasoning for this?

Its literally the same thing lol. I use various pens I have built up to make individual doses its fine. Just type in mounjaro click calculator and various websites come up but 2 x 5mg IS exactly the same as 1 x 10mg been on MJ since Jan 25..still kickin...

Ps...so 120 clicks of 5mg = 10mg

60 clicks of 10mg = 10mg

The OP doesn’t even need to work out clicks and part doses. She has 5mg pens, so for 10mg she just needs to do two normal doses from the pen.

I know, I’m just worried because it says not to. It also says not to extract the golden dose but I do, i know lots of people that do. My question was more to check if others have actually done this themselves and felt fine?

Oh, if you extract the leftover medication against advice from prescribers then getting worried about just doing two injections seems a bit unnecessary!

Prescribers and anyone sensible writing advice for patients would not advise people to do their own dosing like this, as it increases the chances of people making mistakes and injecting more (or less) than they intend.

But, again, logically, what is the issue with getting 10mg in one dose, or in two doses of 5mg? What could possibly be the material difference? You can get ibuprofen in 200mg or 400mg tablets. Do you think it makes a difference if you take 2 x 200mg tablets or 1 x 400mg tablet?

Im doing this atm. Ive gone up to 7.5mg but reorded 5mg as I have a spare 2.5mg that I didnt want to waste.

I do 2 seperate jabs.

I will be doing this soon with two pens I need to use.

Can I just ask, when you say "the suggestion is to buy a 10mg pen", are you actually increasing your dose because 7.5mg is no longer working for you?

I'm about to use a 5mg I've had for ages to do my 7.5 dose, to use it up. I'll do 30 clicks, jab, keep needle in, turn to 1, push the plunger again.

It’s quite an expensive way of doing it, that would be my only worry. You might be better just buying a 10mg pen and keeping the 5mg ones for later.
