Hoping to tap into your collective knowledge….after a body health assessment has given me a kick up the arse in work today, I’m considering an WLI but have a couple of questions and am overwhelmed by the articles.

Firstly, are there any online retailers you’d recommend to order from? Is Voy any good?
How quickly do you realistically see results?
What’s the shortest time you can be on it? Is there a minimum amount of time? Id like to loose at least 20lb, ideally 30lb, is there an average timeline for that?
What does your diet need to be like? Is generally healthy, but some treats and a weekly meal out or takeaway okay?

The online pharmacies are generally much of a muchness, and will do the same kind of consultation process, asking for photos/videos etc before prescribing to you. A handful, like Voy, are subscription services rather than a general pharmacy. They will want to tie you in for a number of months, have an early cancellation fee and so on. They often offer extra services to try to justify their more expensive costs. In my opinion, none of those additional services are worth the extra expense. I avoid the subscription providers.

There is a comparison site for GPhC registered pharmacies at https://monj.co.uk/mounjaro-price-comparison-by-monj/ Its for Mounjaro but there’s a link to a sister site for Wegovy.

In terms of seeing results, you may see weight loss in the first 4 weeks if the medication works for you and if the lowest dose works for you. It’s not intended as a dose to produce significant weight loss, so many people don’t see much weight loss until the second month or months after that. Some people need to go to the highest dose to get the full effect.

The shortest amount of time you can be on it is one dose! I’m not sure what you mean? If you need to lose 30lbs to get into the healthy weight range, then at 1 to 2 pounds a week you’d expect that to take 15 to 30 weeks. Mounjaro/Wegovy don’t make it quicker, they make it possible and consistent over the long term. Then of course there’s maintenance. Losing the weight is the straightforward part, keeping it off is the long term problem. Many people stay on the medication to achieve that, or take a while to taper off. Or come off and then go back on. The chances of keeping the weight off without support is very small, unfortunately.

Your appetite is affected by these medications, you may find you don’t want to eat “treats”, or takeaways. Or a very different version of what you’d have had before in a much smaller quantity. That’s kind of the point. Of course you can go out for meals, I do, frequently. I just eat a lot less and very different things, whilst still enjoying them.

I'm on Wegovy myself 💙 and chose a provider with medical support because it made me feel much more confident. Results really vary, but I found focusing on small, sustainable changes rather than rushing worked best for me. 😊🌿
