It would be interesting to see this as a poll as the yes answers far outweigh the nos.
I’m still a skeptic, I worry too much about the side effects.

Hundreds of thousands of people paying hundreds of pounds a month for these treatments just in the UK are pretty clear evidence that patients rate them.

Somethingsnapped · 04/06/2026 22:35

Another here with absolutely no regrets. I've had only very mild and infrequent side effects, stayed on the lowest dose throughout (2.5mg), and lost nearly 4 stone in 10 months. I feel like 'me' again. I'm nearly at goal.

They made me feel absolutely disgustingly ill. Was hospitalised. It was awful. Interestingly a lot of my family had the same issues so I think genetically maybe we don’t tolerate it?

I had to go back to losing weight though other ways which has been hard, I’ve managed to but I wish the jabs had worked for me, I have adhd too and often wondered of theyd have helped with that too as I have such a clouded and busy mind, it’s not just food noise it’s everything noise !!!

Onenotsosmallstep · 04/06/2026 22:51

My BMI has gone from 52.6 to 25.9 in just under 15 months. I want to lose another stone and am confident that will be the case in the coming months. I used to struggle to fit in chairs. Now I enjoy going to the gym 4 times a week. Every part of my life is better. If you are medically obese it really is a no brainer

IndieRocknRoll · 04/06/2026 22:57

No, just wish the price would come down so I could take them for maintenance!

Sorry you had such an awful experience. I've read that it's believed genetically, that a minority of people will find they just don't work/have any effect and some will have serious side effects no matter what. It is a small % but it's a real shame, especially that there's no way to test it other than to try.

Has anyone previously had bariatric surgery and put on weight, then turned to WL jabs?

Yes - I had gastric sleeve lost 30kgs … then 10kgs crept back up so now on Mounjaro… not sure if it’s because of my gastric sleeve but I’ve been a super responder and had massive food suppression on 2.5mg

I’ve found Mounjaro so much more effective than the sleeve wish it had come out years and years ago or … I didn’t wait to start

GloiredeDijon · 05/06/2026 05:14

No

HangryBrickShark · 05/06/2026 06:02

I don't regret taking them as I've lost 4 stone. But I also recognise I'm not eating properly, like I'll have a bowl of crunchy nut cornflakes or a pot noodle for a meal, I've just lost all motivation for meal planning and cooking. The thought of "what's for tea?" no longer fills me with any excitement and when I have an ocassional takeaway I don't enjoy it as much. I'm managing to go about 10 days between jabs as I'm unemployed so money is an issue and I'm on Wegovy which i find has a better appetite suppression than Mounjaro.

I know how to eat healthily as I lost nearly 2 stone on the SW plan before even starting on WLI.

I, like a little of others, plan to be on this WLI for life.

Zempy · 05/06/2026 06:09

Not a single shred of regret.

I had various health problems and was just getting bigger and bigger.

I have lost 5 and a half stone and my BMI is now 20. I will stay on my maintenance dose long term. It has transformed my life.

Firesidechatter · 05/06/2026 06:52

Life changing for me too, and I mean this genuinely and not lightly

my bmi got to 32, I had high cortisol due to peri and got myself in a vicious circle I couldn’t get out of, I developed high blood pressure and was on max dose of two meds, and it was still uncontrolled, I also developed sleep apnea, meaning I was exhausted, and my gp felt likely metabolic disease.

im now a bmi 20, I exercise regligiously, blood pressure is healthy, im off the meds with my gps support and my sleep apnea is gone. My cortisol levels are normal, all blood tests were healthy.

i like my appearance again, im a size 8 from a size 18, my body is fit and toned, with clear muscle definition, i love getting dressed now, in clothes i want to wear, rather than something black to hide the fat. In the warm weather it’s amazing to not feel uncomfortable. To be able to wear lovely summer light clothes.

and I say that as mental health is also important, we should feel good about ourselves.

i had no side effects at all, like 80 percent of people. I ate a clean and healthy diet from the start to avoid any gastro issues. I noticed an immediate difference with reduction of inflammation, for example I could kneel down fully within a week or two , I couldn’t do thst for a couple of years before, as my ankles were stiff.

i also had stiff ankles when i got up in the morning. Which resolved in the same time frame, and surprisingly my very large round tummy started shrinking back very quickly, as in within about 3 weeks people started to comment I’d lost a lot of weight, I hadn’t, it was simply my extended round heavily pregnant looking belly shrunk back. Likely as the cortisol was reducing.

i am now on a low maintenance dose, primarily to maintain my health but also to ensure I don’t regain, it is critical to me not to.

funmamamoo · 05/06/2026 06:57

I started them 2 years ago but couldn’t get on with even the low dose. Huge suppression of food but physically sick and constantly nauseous. I had to stop after 6 weeks as I couldn’t continue as had so much time off work. I lost 1.5 stones in that time. What happened though was it completely kickstarted my weight loss. I am now 5.5 stone down as it totally changed my relationship with food. I suppose it’s win win as I don’t have the monthly expense now either. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I know so many people on them who will never leave them as have changed their lives with no side effects at all the lucky things.

reluctantbrit · 05/06/2026 07:53

@HangryBrickShark I am the opposite, I started really enjoying meal planning again and can spend plenty of times looking up protein rich recipes, going away from the pasta dishes and more veggies in my life.

Just a shame that my baking books are now gathering dust :-(

To all who wondered about depression: I had PND, was medicated and then had therapy. It never fully went away, having an ND child also added to a constant low level of it.

I have no issues at all. I think the majority of my weight gain was comfort/stress eating and while some of the stress is definitely reduced at home, the jab also helps with not craving the snacks anymore, I found that if I am stressed at work or worry about DD, I have now learned other ways to tackle them instead of getting a chocolate bar out.

Obviously, that's just me but I think there is no blanket "if you had/have depression, the jabs will make it reappear/worse" approach.

That's really reassuring about the depression. Thank you.

@Ineedanewsofa thanks so much, that's sounds amazing! I've got a whole arm full of nerve problems on top of the weight, I'm really interested in starting now.

8books · 05/06/2026 08:28

I wish I’d started sooner!! I think I was concerned about side effects, which has turned out to be unnecessary.

It’s a wonderful medication. The food noise is switched off, which means the battle of choosing not to eat lots has disappeared. Now I need to be very deliberate about what and when I eat.

EveryDayisFriday · 05/06/2026 11:58

No, they have been life changing for me. I'm a size 10 from a size 20, I've not been this size since I was 14. I wish they'd have been around 20yrs ago.

I have unravelled decades of disordered eating and I now eat small portions of whole foods and go to the gym 5x a week which would have been impossible for me without medication.

northernlight20 · 05/06/2026 12:19

As others have said, the only regret i have is not starting sooner. Ive lost 9st 6lb since march 2025, gone from bmi 46.5 to 22, 18st to 8st 7lb and size 22 to 6-8. i do have a little bit of lose skin but it doesnt bother me and the only side effects ive ever had was a bit of heartburn in the first 4weeks. its been a life changing miracle and i will be staying on for life.

HollywoodTease · 05/06/2026 12:36

I was really nervous about starting, but I had a bit of a health crisis at new year with hypertension causing all kinds of issues. When I got checked out I was also pre-diabetic, with an hba1c score of 47 - T2 diabetes starts at 48. I was constantly exhausted, had suffered with IBS for 20 years, my hair was thinning, I had carpal tunnel in my left wrist, plantar fascitis in my heels, bouts of low mood (especially in winter) and regular cramps in my legs.

5 months later and I am nearly 3 stone down. My blood pressure is normal. My IBS, carpal tunnel and cramps have all gone. I sleep better so I'm not as tired. I eat cleanly and take a collagen supplement so my hair and nails are vastly improved. My mood is stable and I find my post-menopausal brain fog is less intrusive too.

I still love to cook, and spend time creating or adapting scratch recipes that fit with how I like to eat now (high protein, low carb, loads of green veg).

I've had no negative side effects at all, just all the positives listed above.

I've still got a long way to go, 4 stone minimum to be at a healthy BMI and I need to start concentrating on my fitness now.

I go back to my GP for more bloods in July, and I'm hoping that my hba1c will have dropped significantly when I do.

Yes it's costly, but I have found that my supermarket bills have decreased in proportion so I've not really noticed a huge difference in my finances.

Like so many others my only regret is not being brave enough to start sooner. It took a health crisis to make me give Mounjaro a try, and it was the best thing I've ever done. I'm still a long way from needing to think about maintenance but I suspect that I will probably need to stay on some kind of dose for life just to continue with the other positive side effects.

ShrankLastWinter · 05/06/2026 15:37

@HollywoodTease I expect you will find your hba1c is much better. Mine was down from 43 to 34 after 5 weeks on Mounjaro! After 18 months and at a healthy BMI it was 28.

Wow that's amazing!

I am 🤞🤞 for an improvement, I certainly feel a lot better.

1000% no I was BmI 37 when started now at 28 and the movement confidence and health benefits outweighs the very very minimal side effects , very very costly but worth it !

Scalessayeek · 06/06/2026 13:52

I’ve lost 148 pounds. I’m a different person, gone from hating exercise to running a half marathon. I’m not lazy anymore, I enjoy life and I’m 100% there for my husband and kids. It’s been life changing. I only wish it had been around sooner!

Kazzaa46 · 07/06/2026 08:11

No real regrets here. I had hardly any side effects and am now 9 stone. It’s lovely not to always wear dark colours and not needing to find flattering fits.

My only regret is I’ve lost too much for my age. My original target was 9st 7 to 10 st. But when I got there I felt I needed to lose more. After stopping at 9 st, despite maintaining for a while I’ve continued to look slimmer over time, it’s like your body takes a while to catch up with the weight on the scale. This may also be due to me weight training.
But sadly the result has been my face has aged and I have loose skin on my bum. I’m currently trying to gain a bit of weight to improve this.

Despite the above I’d do it all again but would have stopped at a higher weight.
