Moving to 5mg WG and big reaction!

I had a day at a bbq yesterday. Lots of salads and some meat, but pimms consumed. I didn't think I'd eaten unhealthily or drank too much but blimey, I have been up and down through the night about 10 times with a runny tummy and the worst sulphur burps! Is this my new normal on 5mg? 2.5mg felt like it was having little impact and I only went up to 5mg earlier this week - feel like I've gone from one extreme to the other! From anyone else's experience, will the big reaction calm down or do I need to make sure I plan better next time?

5mg hit me like a train! The day after my first dose of 5mg, I threw up twice at work and had to go home, then spent the rest of the day and half the night projectile vomiting 😖 then I couldn’t shit for almost a week 🫣

The vomiting did settle within two days and I felt better towards the end of the second week, but the sulphur burps lasted bloody weeks.

Ah, that's reassuring to hear!

Sorry that you had to go through that, but for sure, glad to hear it's not just me!

I was so ill when I went to this dose I actually stopped taking it but ended up having bloods and being scanned because I couldn’t even stand upright. I was ok, but Christ it wiped me out.

ArticSaviour · 31/05/2026 09:44

Same happened here. Two days of absolute hell. Hasn't happened again, thank God

Wishfulshrinker25 · 31/05/2026 10:16

Wow @BackToTheFuture9, that must have been scary. Did you go back to it or stay off?

Did you stay on 5 @ArticSaviour? Feel any effects on 2.5?

I was only fully discharged as clear on Friday, and I’ve been thinking all weekend about what to do! I might start again and just stay on lowest dose. Bit shaken up though.

CrikeyMajikey · 31/05/2026 17:28

I didn’t get such an initial severe reaction as vomiting and diarrhoea but the move up to 5mg was way too much. I’d tried to measure/click 3mg, 4mg etc to get myself to 5mg. I was on 5mg for 5 months and sulphur burped for most of it. It was a joy to come off it, but the weight is creeping back on.

Wishfulshrinker25 · 31/05/2026 18:06

I'm not surprised @BackToTheFuture9! Did the doctors think it was definitely MJ related?
@CrikeyMajikey, I did think the dose is double but I really felt no effects from 2.5mg, positive or negative. I jabbed on Thursday, felt ok on Thursday and Friday but today was next level. If it hadnt been for the sulphur burps, I would have thought it could have been food poisoning!

PearlsTeapot · 01/06/2026 10:17

I’ve been the same on 5, moved up twice and had same response. I jabbed 4 last night and am praying I’m ok after spending all of last week on the toilet.

KrazyKatty · 01/06/2026 11:02

How long have you been on 2.5mg?

You really need to eat clean on the jabs and lose the fatty and carb heavy foods and reduce alcohol consumption too, as these can all contribute to the side effects you’ve been experiencing.

I’ve been on the jabs for about 10 months and only recently moved up to 3.75mg (click counting) partly to ensure I don’t get bad side effects, keep costs down and be able to stay on them at a low dose to maintain.

Wishfulshrinker25 · 01/06/2026 17:23

How's it going today @PearlsTeapot? Fingers crossed for you.

I'd been on 2.5mg for two months but with really limited results @KrazyKatty, both in terms of symptoms but also in terms of weight loss. The bbq was a special occasion for my husband's 40th so perhaps why it had such a big impact too, but genuinely I mainly ate salad.

Felt a million times better today, thank god. Really glad to hear that others had the same, such a relief to hear. Let's hope 5mg calms down for all of us feeling the negative impact soon!

Really sorry to hear you’re still suffering.

I’m sure it’s an unfortunate combination of fatty food/alcohol and the double dose of MJ that has caused it, so at least you know it will pass eventually so try not to worry. Just keep drinking lots of water to keep yourself hydrated.

Maybe look at dropping back to 2.5mg or 3mg next week and building up to 5mg slowly.

Also, remember that MJ builds up in your system so it probably spiked at the time of the bbq. Maybe take a look at the plotter website to help you understand this better?

You’re having the same reaction as me OP when I went up to the 5. It’s definitely the food and the alcohol. I always jab on a morning, so first week on the 5 I had a roast for evening meal. Ate more veg than anything else but the roast potatoes really hit differently. I could taste them all night and eventually threw them up by morning. I spent the whole next day in bed. Similarly happened at week 2, we (stupidly) had a curry that evening. Very light portion but half a garlic bread. Same again happened, I was so poorly. Last week I changed tactics and had a rather simple jacket potatoe and half a panini for my evening meal on jab day. Whilst I still got the sulphur burps through the night, I wasn’t sick and was able to function the next day. It’s jab day tomorrow and I’ll definitely be having something plain for evening meal. It’s all a learning curve.

Wishfulshrinker25 · 02/06/2026 16:19

Thanks @KrazyKatty, thats helpful to know. I thought side effects had peaked on Sunday but seems just as strong today.

Good plan @PearlsTeapot, I perhaps need to be more aware of when I jab and meals out/occasions. It's my husband's 40th tomorrow and we were meant to be out for dinner tomorrow night but I think I need to rearrange.

Definitely going to drop back down to 2.5mg or 3.75mg this week.

My sister has just had a day of vomiting and diarrhoea so I wonder if it is a bug after all, or just very weird timing! I jabbed today and have dropped down to 2.5mg - didnt want to risk another weekend of doom, but now I'm not sure what to do next!

I had something similar when I moved up a dose 😅 Rich food and alcohol definitely seemed to affect me more than before. The sulphur burps and upset tummy did settle down for me after a little while. Through my medical service I was able to check in when I was unsure, which was reassuring.

Wishfulshrinker25 · 05/06/2026 16:06

@Linda983 , that sounds useful. I reached out to mine and they didnt reply 🤦‍♀️ I did 2.5mg on Thursday and might do the same again on Monday.

Had a week on 2.5 and back up to 5 again today- wish me luck! No planned bbq or alcoholic drinks this weekend! 🤣

OP posts:
PearlsTeapot · 11/06/2026 13:55

Good luck! Hope for no symptoms!

Wishfulshrinker25 · 14/06/2026 07:16

For anyone who has posted, all good this time round! Back up to 5mg and other than tiredness, no problems! 🙌 Finally feel like the jabs are making a difference in terms of seeing results but it's felt incredibly slow at times, apart from the weekend of doom when side effects were awful. How's everyone else getting on?
