Is it possible to microdose from a 5mg pen? I’ve taken 5 weeks of 2.5mg, and now have a 5mg pen to use. I don’t think I need a full 5mg as I’m having reasonable suppression and steady loss. Can I use maybe 7 clicks and have 3.5mg?

45 clicks on a 5mg pen delivers a 3.75mg dose. You get 5 doses before the pen locks.

A 5mg pen - 60 clicks = full 5mg dose

6 clicks = 0.5mg
12 clicks = 1 mg
30 clicks = (1/2 dose) 2.5mg
36 clicks = 3mg
42 clicks = 3.5mg
45 clicks = 3.75mg
48 clicks = 4mg
54 clicks = 4.5mg

I’ve lost over 4 stones and have gone up to 3.5mg. I had 4 months on 2.5mg then moved up to 3mg for a couple of months and now on 3.5mg. I’ve another couple of stones to go.

I want to stay on the lowest possible dose as according to some users, your body gets used to it and it eventually stops working as effectively, even at the highest doses.

Yes just count the clicks and order extra needles. I’ve been doing this for a while but I’m finding that after 2 weeks at 3.3 (40 clicks) that it is still too strong supression for me so am going to drop back down to 3 (36 clicks). I’d rather have a small appetite! My advice would be if 2.5 is fine to stay on it. If it’s starting to sort of wear off then you could start to increase slowly, I had good suppression from the start so could tell I didn’t need to go up much more. I did a few 2.5 then 3 then 3.5 from a 5mg pen.

I’ve been doing 2.5 from a 5 pen for ages. Works out more cost efficient.

Sorry for the mini detail but this thread might answer my question. I’ve just taken my 4th dose of a 2.5 pen. When prepping the pen I had to swap the needle as nothing was coming out. But when I went to take my dose the pen didn’t click to the ‘1’ marker. Have I wasted my final dose? I’ve elected to stay on 2.5 for my second pen.

@ThePierThatISitUnder if the pen didn’t turn to the 1 position, where did it turn to and did you inject from that position?

If you post a picture of your pen (with the lid off) so we can see the glass vial part then people may be able to advise on how many doses are left in it.

@SilenceInside thanks for the reply. I just kept turning without counting clicks until the pen wouldn’t turn any further and yes I injected.

That looks like it’s at the last line on the glass vial, which would mean that you’d done a normal 4th dose. Can you see and feel the raised lines on the glass part and check if the end of the plunger lines up with the furthest one? They are on the underneath in your picture.

The end of the plunger is slightly above the top raised line. I suppose my concern is if I have been wasting too much product when priming the pen.

That sounds like it was almost a full dose then, so you haven’t wasted or missed out on much of the dose. You’re very unlikely to have used up a lot of medication by priming, unless you’d primed multiple times per dose - it’s only 2 clicks to prime, and there are 240 clicks available in the pen plus at least 8 to 16 for priming.

Given that you’re staying on 2.5mg for your next pen, will you use the leftover medication that’s in this pen? It will be another whole dose plus a bit more.
