Lilly just released some new Phase 3 results for Retatrutide, their next weight-loss jab. Mounjaro works on two hormone pathways, GLP-1 and GIP, while Retatrutide works on three: GLP-1, GIP and glucagon.

The phase 3 obesity results are good: average weight loss was 28.3% after 80 weeks on the highest dose. Nearly half the trial participants lost at least 30% of their body weight. The trial had participants on 4 mg, 9 mg, and 12 mg a week. Similar side effects to Mounjaro. It still needs regulatory submission and MHRA review before it becomes officially available in the UK.

For rough comparison:

  • Wegovy: about 15% average loss
  • Mounjaro/Zepbound: about 22.5%
  • Retatrutide: about 28.3%

I think it’s impressive how much more effective each new jab has been.

hopefully it will work for people who don’t get on with any of the others for whatever reason.

selfishly, I hope the introduction of this helps with the mounjaro prices , (although plenty more people would also benefit from that)

as someone who has lost 110lb so far (and about40lb to go) I’m likely to be a life long user
