Questions about weight loss injections for losing a stone and maintenance

I am hoping that someone may be able to answer some questions that I have to help me to decide how to move forward. I have lost a lot of weight in the past through diet and exercise. I have put on a bit of that and I am constantly, and struggling to lose it again, I am overwhelmed with the noise in my head, and the amount I have to think about it and the amount of exercise I have to do just to exist. So I am thinking of using WLI to lose the stone or so I have put on, and they maybe in some way a smaller dose to maintain.

So my questions are:

  1. Has anyone done the above and how is it working out?
  2. Med Express will prescribe me Weygovy or Mounjaro. Weygovy is half the price, is it not as good?
  3. Is there an expiry date on the pens once they are activated? So if I was able to say take a half dose and have 1.25mg weekly, would a pen last 8 weeks?
  4. Can I just order a pen adhoc down the line if I am struggling again?

It's tricky doing it like this, undoubtedly you'll lose the stone, unfortunately when you stop, unless you are lucky the noise will come back and you'll be back to square one, plus GLP 1s don't just quell hunger they work on metabolism and hormones, which is why middle aged women in peri /menopause find it a dream on these drugs.
Wegovy is a single agonist, mounjaro a double agonist, so yes mounjaro is generally considered more effective
You are supposed to use the pens within a month, but in reality many people sub dose,me included when I was on it, the risks are less efficacy, and infection from repeatedly puncturing the rubber seal ,mitigated as far as you can by refrigeration and scrupulous cleanliness.you also need syringes/spare needles
If you sign up to a pharmacy that is maintenance friendly then you would be able to order an ad-hoc pen but only at the lower dose I believe, I don't think you can randomly order a 15 to make it last you months by sub dosing like this , although I did stockpile myself by ordering bundles 3 at a time and sub dosing keeping up with the ordering regime.

FYI when MedExpress originally advertised they would prescribe to patients new to weight loss injections with a BMI 25+ they said on their site that it would be off label and the two lowest doses only - worth checking if that is still the case and if it influences your choice of Wegovy or Mounjaro.

Instructions on pen is to use within 30 days (5 weeks) - Voy did independent testing and will prescribe pens to use off label for 6 weeks - some people use for longer. I am not sure how often Med Express will expect you to order to continue prescribing to you as I have never used them and if they allow gaps in ordering. Once you have ordered once from MedExpress you might be able to use that as proof to order from a maintenance friendly pharmacy.

See monj.co.uk or igovy.co.uk for other safe GPhC registered and/or maintenance friendly pharmacies.

Thank you. Yes you have to sign to say that you understand it’s off label. I will check regarding the dose amounts, I don’t recall seeing anything but could have missed it.

Was talking about this the other day. If they saw they will only give the 2 lowest dose to someone off lable. . Once they have their 1st box they can just switch to another pharmacy and move up the dose . I do t get how they can limit someone to only 5mg.

And you can buy 60 mg quite easily as a peptide FFS get a grip

I lost the stone I needed on 2.5, took 2 months. Put a few pounds back on but I’m still happy.
