Counting clicks, how do I do it?

I’ve moved up to 5mg mounjaro and it’s making me nauseous and very loose stool. Can barely think about food let alone consume it. I have 2 doses left and thinking I could do 4 x 2.5mg instead of the full 5mg. Can anyone advise how to count clicks please?

When you turn the pen to the 1 position the barrel is marked with lines, each makes a click as you turn past it. The full 1 position is 60 lines or clicks. To do a half dose you just turn slowly and count 30 lines or clicks. You can mark the position with a sharpie so you don’t have to count each time. Other than that, you inject as normal.

Am I right in thinking the pen will only deliver 4 doses regardless of what size the dose is? So, once you have done 4 deliveries (however small) you will need to extract like the 'golden dose'?

@MoggetsCollar no, it’s not the number of doses, it’s the total number of clicks. The pen will deliver 240 clicks, doesn’t matter if it’s 4 x 60 or 2 x 60 and then 4 x 30.

No. The pen is able to do 250 clicks - 4 full doses of 60 clicks each and 10 for priming. You could take 25 doses of 10 clicks and would still be done without a syringe needed.

Am I doing something wrong? I turn the pen until it gets to the 0.5 mark. I don't count clicks at all. When I inject, the pen clicks back to the 0 mark. Then I count to 6 slowly and release the needle.

@Lovemuesli is that a Mounjaro or a Wegovy pen? The Mounjaro pen doesn’t have a 0.5 mark.

If you’re still getting suppression on 2.5mg, there’s no need to move up a full dose.

I’ve been on MJ for a while and lost 4 stones and very slowly increasing my dose using click counting with a 5mg pen. I’m counting 42 clicks for 3.5mg and getting some suppression although I’m only losing about 0.5 to a pound a week now, which is fast enough for me. I figure if the weight comes off slowly, it will stay off longer term on a very low maintenance dose.

I have bought a few 5mg pens so currently have a 4 pen stockpile (old style with golden dose) in my fridge. I think some pharmacy’s expect you to re-order every 4 weeks or so.

I’ve just realised the pen has been out of the fridge for 2 weeks, so will not last another 4 weeks now. How long does it last in the fridge once used?

@starsintheirmultitude same as out of the fridge, it’s 30 days to use regardless.

You can do 5 doses within the 30 days, so it would be the 6th dose that’s outside of the timeframe. Whether you’re happy to use it past the 30 days is a personal decision.

It's a Wegovy pen.

If kept in the fridge, it’s officially 30 days once you start using it, but I’ve made mine last 8 weeks without issues. I always wipe the red bung before and after each use with a fresh wipe.

It’s up to you what risks you feel comfortable with.
