First mounjaro injection tonight

Any tips as it’s my first injection tonight, I’m on 2.5mg!
im a little nervous!

Don't be nervous, it's a bit of an anticlimax once you've done it.

My main tip is to read the leaflets (patient info and injection instructions) carefully first, and read the injection instructions a few times before actually doing it.

My other tip is to be careful when you put the used pen needle in the sharps bin as the end that's uncovered is sharp. I didn't realise the first time and stabbed my finger on it...

Nothing to be nervous about and I’m the nervous tupe!🤣 I did have a small side effect which was a headache for the first two nights after I injected. I only had a stone to lose though so wasn’t massively overweight and am thinking perhaps side effects are more frequent in people who aren’t majorly overweight.

No, side effects are not connected at all to how much weight you have to lose.

Eat clean on injection day so nothing fatty and focus on high protein, low carb and keep it simple. Less chance of having side effects.

Side effects depend on a lot of things but your starting weight isn’t one of them. Generally it’s to do with your endocrine system and sensitivity to the synthetic hormones

By that theory we would be seeing a spike in side effects as people reach a healthy weight zone, which isn’t happening?

I had my first 2.5mg jab last night. My son did it for me! No side effects yet and I slept well. No suppression yet either but I guess it’s early days. I know everyone is different but I’m wondering when it’ll kick in.

I felt the effects immediately and lost 5 and a half stone very easily.

I agree it’s anticlimactic. I made sure my DH was next to me and ready to call an ambulance 😆 the reality was that nothing happened, my heart stopped racing, and I drank a bunch of water to “wash it through” my system. That was last July and I’ve fortunately had only the occasional upset stomach as a side effect. Also, down to a size 14 from a 20. The time goes so fast! Best wishes.

I was 14 stone when I first started and couldn't stop shitting liquid for 4 days 😂 nothing to do with how much or little you have to lose

It’s such an exciting thing. The injection the first time is never wracking, but after a few weeks it is barely something to think about. Takes me seconds now,

If you think they’ll help and you want to try them, just do it.

Luckily, my DH was concerned initially but fully supportive. Even if he’d been dead set against the idea, I’d have still done it as I’m an adult and make my own decisions.

It’s been miraculous, that’s the only word for it. Don’t let your DH hold you back from becoming a healthier version of you.

That’s a good sign as it’s probably already started working. I had a headache the first two times after I injected but I’ve been fine ever since.

Thanks! He's concerned about the long term effects but he would support me with any decisions. I don't want to just dismiss his feelings, though, so taking my time considering things because I'm already on a total meal replacement/VLCD.

@ChubbyGroundhog ,just take it anyway, I did,5 and half stone down and couldn't feel any better,my husband didn't want me to take it either, sod him,I just took it and didn't tell him, he'd still got a grump on because I'd never lost it before and my self esteem rocket ed with every pound lost,order it, you'll not look back, it's really a simple procedure,both ordering and taking, people get really worked up about it,I was nervous before,but it's really so unbelievably simple,and the weight just falls off.

Honestly the build up was worse than the actual injection for me 😅 I started 2.5mg with an online provider and was so nervous. Biggest tips are drink loads of water, dont do a massive greasy meal before it and inject in your tummy while sitting down, I barely felt it. The weekly app check ins and clinical oversight helped alot too, plus the simple recipes on the app were handy first few weeks. Pretty affordable aswell.

Agree with someone else that said eat clean, the days when I’ve thought “oh I’ll have a little blowout and then inject tomorrow” have left me feeling rough 😭
