To get a broad idea take a scroll through the threads on this topic. Lots of people have varied experiences. There are threads for each month eg I am on the March 26 starter thread as that's when we all started. It's very supportive.

Fabulous, lost over 6 and a half stone and been maintaining on a low dose for well over a year, I feel great, all health issues resolved. Blood tests optimal Now a size 8 down from an 18,

the only advise I’d give is. Do it right. Protect your muscle as much as possible and lose the fat. Or you won’t like what you see when you hit goal.

so eat your protein, do Stength training, work out, aim for no more than 2lbs a week, drink three litres of water a day. Become fit and healthy.

Very good I lost 7 stone in around 12 months and have been maintaining for a few months now. 17 stone to 10 stone.

MummyInTheNecropolis · 12/05/2026 06:18

I lost 13.5 stone in a year, going from a size 24-26 down to a size 8-10, and have been maintaining since January. I’d been morbidly obese my whole life, I’d tried every diet and exercise plan available, MJ was the only thing that ever worked for me. I expect I’ll need to stay on it forever which is fine by me. I used the time I was on it to overhaul my whole lifestyle. I now exercise daily, a mix of running, hiking, strength training, yoga and Pilates. I look after myself more and have so much more confidence. It’s the best thing I’ve ever done, I can’t recommend it highly enough.

Overall positive.

bit of sickness to start , occasionally a bit of trapped wind .

lost 110lb in about 15 months( about 8stone?) still have 25-50lb to lose.

only issue I have is massive cost. That I could possibly be paying forever (although I imagine at some point generic options will be available- like own brand calpol -for a fraction of the price )

ScubaSteven · 12/05/2026 06:32

Brilliant experience, I’ve been on it since October last year and I’m 5 stone down. My side effects are minimal, occasional nausea being the only one I have noticed, and it’s given me the chance to overhaul my lifestyle. I’ve got 2 stone to go and will then need to taper down, it’s definitely expensive but it’s the only thing that’s worked for me. Load up on supplements to make sure your decreased appetite won’t lead to deficiencies.

ithinkilikethislittlelife · 12/05/2026 06:44

Dh has lost over 7 stone going from 20 to 12 4 and I’ve lost 4 going from 12 9 to 8 6. It’s been incredible for us. We still eat what we ate before but we eat less and don’t snack. We started Jan last year and hit goal Jan this year. We are now on 2.5mg and maintaining. No side effects at all.

I’m 8.6kg down in 9 weeks. Some would view that as a slow responder, and tbh I can’t see currently where I’ve lost the weight as all clothes are still the same. I didn’t take before measurements. I do feel absolutely dreadful the day after jab day (which is today ironically), but I have to push through it and continue to eat and drink or else it only gets worse. After that I’m fine other than a bit of trapped wind. I’m on 5mg and don’t plan to move up as the suppression is so strong that I have to force myself to eat.

Familyandmore · 28/05/2026 19:01

I have lost about 2.5 stone over 12 months and now weigh 11stone.Feel great and happy with my slow weight loss.
Only side effects have been feeling a bit 'low' and tired two days after each dose but nothing awful.Am only taking 5mgs .

MoneyJo · 28/05/2026 19:04

That's not slow @thinkofsomethingdifferent it's 2lb a week. 1-2lb a week is the recommended rate for healthy loss. You're doing great.

thinkofsomethingdifferent · 28/05/2026 20:19

@MoneyJothank you. I’m on the April starters thread and some people have had huge losses, whereas I’ve remained consistent despite moving up doses. In hindsight I should have stayed on the 2.5 a little longer, as I didn’t have to force feed on the 2.5 whereas now it’s quite hard to eat.

MoneyJo · 28/05/2026 20:50

You might find you can stay on the current dose for some time now. I think I moved to 5 too quickly so I'll stay on it as long as possible.

Cece92 · 28/05/2026 21:00

I’ve got my first pen in the fridge for tomorrow morning. So my works not interrupted by any side effects hopefully. I’m nervous but I’ve been swaying for best part of a year. I’ve got all my vitamins etc organised in my pill box. Protein shake and bar in the fridge salad in the fridge. Electrolytes ready to go and water chilling. I will probably stick to 2.5 for a bit. I’m really worried about the headaches and Nausea I don’t cope well with nausea 😂😂 so any advice is welcome xx

I agree. Read through lots of threads. Especially ones from over a year ago. You’ll notice it often massively slows down after several for lots of people.
