Advice for taking pen on plane etc.

We're going on holiday next week and I'll need to take my pen with me to dose whilst away.

Any advice for taking it on the plane and keeping it cool? Hand luggage or checked bag? Would one of those instant cool packs help? Not sure what would be allowed through security.

I know it can be left out the fridge but worried our destination will be hotter than 30°.

We should have a fridge so it's just for the travel.

I'd put it in hand luggage, on the off chance the hold gets too cold. And also so that it won't get lost if your baggage does. You could also take the medication box with the prescription label showing your details in case anyone checks. From the various threads I've seen on here, no one has had any issue with going through security.

You can get cooling wallets that will keep the pen under 30 degrees for a couple of days without needing ice packs. The Frio wallet is the one that gets mentioned a lot, and they aren't too expensive

@Mounjaro2026 , I haven’t the Frio wallet you don’t have an ice pack but just refresh it will cold water. It’s very good, the best in my opinion.

I’ve recently spent 3 weeks travelling round Thailand and in that time took 5 flights. Carried my pen in my hand luggage in a Frio wallet and took a copy of my prescription just in case, it wasn’t mentioned or questioned once. Very easy to travel with, popped it in the fridge in the hotel rooms if available, but if not you can just refresh the frio pouch to keep it cool. Have a great trip
