Stalled for a long time

ive been on Wegovy and then Monjaro for 13 months now. I've lost 5 stones. I've got 1 1/2 to go. I'm on 15mg. I weight train once a week and track my calories to be in a 500 calorie deficit.

i have stalled since November. Nothing lost for 5 months.

I've become so disheartened with this that I missed my dose last week and stopped calorie tracking and weighing myself. Put on a little weight immediately of course.

should I just accept I won't lose the rest and stay in the overweight BMI category or should I keep going paying £260 every month for no results?

I thought this was a miracle for weight loss and I have lost a lot but, like any other diet, there seems to be disappointment looming

You should try to increase your calorie deficit and perhaps get your calories from mostly protein.

Chatgpt is good for diet planning.

Also, I’ve decided to kick up the exercise with walking for 30 mins a day now the sun

SilenceInside · 25/04/2026 10:53

If you haven’t lost anything for months then you are at maintenance level of calories. You can change what you’re eating to include more protein but you somehow need to increase the calorie deficit. The two ways to do that are to eat fewer calories and/or increase activity.

Hotfirewood · 25/04/2026 11:01

P.s. Well done on your amazing loss so far!!

This. I find it shocking how little calories I need to lose weight now I weight less

Kitt1 · 25/04/2026 13:22

Did you update your TDEE after every stone lost?

I know if I eat more than 1400cals, I’ll put the weight back on but I’m short so it’s unsurprising really.

Parrish · 25/04/2026 20:13

I'm short too. I didn't update after every stone as I was losing effortlessly. Now I am counting calories like my life depends on it.

It's good you are tracking, but look at your macros if you don't already, aim for 1g protein per kg body weight if you can, even at least 80g protein a day will help keep you full and satiated and helps reduce cravings for carbs and sugar. Reduce your carbs where you can, also drink more water, this is what I've had to do to get down to 8st 11lbs. I had to eat below 1000 cals to lose 1lb a week but I'm 44, 5ft 3 and have an office job and we are all different, so use www.tdeecalculator.net to work out your deficit.

Gosh...under 1000 is not very much at all. I have eaten 80g protein today but maybe too many carbs. I don't eat meat so it's hard. Water drinking is also a problem. I remember now I lost a lot of weight 3 years ago having protein shakes for 2 meals out of three and walking for an hour a day to and from work. And I had an active job. I thought this medication would make it easier and it does until It doesn't any

My tdee is below 1500 so 1000 is a standard deficit to lose 1lb a week but the calculators wont include metabolic conditions or body shapes or ethnicity which predisposes to higher visceral fat and a lower metabolism. I was also prediabetic, had high BP and high cholesterol, IBS and inflammation and I can and do gain at 1500. I wouldn't have had a chance at losing over 4st and getting to bmi 22 without mj with my high blood sugars and insulin resistance.
80g protein is fine if you don't eat meat. Eggs and dairy are a good option. I have a protein shake every morning for breakfast to start my day and add collagen and vitamins to it.
MJ increases insulin and suppresses appetite but if your diet is higher carb, then your body uses carbs first as energy before fat, if you eat less carbs it moves on to fat burning quicker. Good thing is you can recognise where to improve so hopefully will see change.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 25/04/2026 21:32

What's your BMI now?
I've got down to a BMI of just under 26 and it's getting really hard to lose the last few lbs.

Backawayfromthesausage · 26/04/2026 07:52

You need to drop your cals, you’re eating to maintenance.

How much do you weigh and how much did you start at? I’m asking as I have the same thing age 46 height 5ft 5

SW 15st12 BMI 37
cW 11st 6 BMI 26.7
TW 9 st 12 BMI 23

Megsdaughter · 26/04/2026 10:11

I started out at TTDE of 1700, so sticking to 1200. Now after losing 6.5st am on 1550 so am only on 1050 a day. Im 65 and only 5.3ft as well. Also find intermittent fasting ( eating only between 12 noon and 8pm) has really boosted my loosing again.

Ha! I started at 20st 2lb and I'm 10st 5lb now.

I'd like to lose another 7lb.

This last bit is taking ages.

I had a similar experience OP, except I accepted my new weight as being a stone over BMI

I didn’t want to go up to a higher dose of mounjaro because of the fatigue I experienced as a side-effect.

It would be nice to be 10 lbs lighter, but I’m not that bothered. I feel healthier and most of my clothes fit me.

Will you stop? Do you think maybe it doesn’t work for you?

I’ve been on for over 2 years, hit goal about 14 or so months ago, went up each month to ten, stayed there till I hit goal. Then titrated down to 5, which I maintain on.

i think if I was gaining weight on it, I’d just stop taking it.

Pyjamatimenow · Yesterday 14:26

I’m scared to stop in case I get worse. My bmi was like 20 when I hit goal. Now it’s 22 so I’m still ok but I’m not particularly happy

Somethingsnapped · Yesterday 14:32

I echo a PP about intermittent fasting. Do you do it at all OP? My weight loss slowed a lot recently, and I started to do intermittent fasting (eating between 12 - 8 like PP), and mine seems to have kicked off again. I have less than a stone to lose now too.
