I’m very overweight and have been tempted for a while. I’ve tried on my own and never got past loosing a stone. I’ve read a lot about tracking calories and exercise programmes whilst on WLI and whilst I understand that makes a difference, if I was any good at that approach surely I’d have lost the weight without the need of WLI. Do they still work if you fall of the calorie counting wagon or do you need just as much motivation on whilst on WLI as you do doing it on your own. I’ve heard about food noise but I don’t think I have that. Generally I eat heathily but too larger portions and a sweet tooth but that feels more habit than noise if that makes any sense.

I’m guess I’m just asking if anyone was the same and has still had success?

I was similar to you. Now on WLI I track calories just to monitor but I actually don't want more food than I'm eating. I feel full after eating a normal amount now whereas previously I never felt full so that stops me eating large portions.

I have also realised just how much extra I was eating that I didn't need, only now I have the inclination not to eat more.

I have lost over 11 stone and not calorie counted. I have obviously reduced the total number of calories that I’ve been eating, and been in a calorie deficit. I’ve just done that by eating smaller portions and lower calorie foods.

That’s great thank you I guess I just need to bite the bullet and try. I go on holiday in a few weeks is it best just to wait till I get back do you think rather than holiday so early on in case I’d side effects etc

I would start now. You will be on a small dose that shouldn't have many (if any) side effects. But you will have made a start and will probably want to eat less on holiday, which is good.

I started in July and had holidays in August which were fine. Do you want to wait a month or 6 weeks or whatever before starting to lose weight?

You are right I’ll get looking! I’m also so so worried about loose skin but I can’t keep putting it off!

I've never calorie counted, same as some others, and I've lost 4 & 1/2 stone. But I have changed my diet completely. I now eat a Mediterranean low carb diet along the Michael Mosley lines. Lots of fresh food, very little pasta, bread, rice or potatoes. It's worked a treat and I never feel I'm missing anything.

I’ve not counted a calorie on wli. I’ve counted everything in past weight loss attempts and didn’t want to go there again. I find the whole process of counting makes me dwell on food to much. But everyone is different and a lot of people do like to count. I do focus on making sure that I have enough protein, fibre and water. For me it was cutting out the junky snacks and having smaller portions of meals that I already knew were healthy. Wli was the tool I needed to do that consistently and continuously. Welcome. It truly is a game changer.
