Success going back down a dose?

Hi there,

After some experiences please, I’ve been on MJ for nearly a year now and have lost nearly 60lbs. It’s slowed right down recently and I’ve been careful to track my food and gone up to two weights sessions a week and 10k steps a day.

I went up to 7.5mg two weeks ago to try and kickstart things but the last two weeks have gained a lb each week. And I feel absolutely rotten.

my question is, has anyone gone back down a dose and started losing again? Perhaps a certain dose just doesn’t suit me?

thanks in advance!

Medication doesn’t work like that, where the less you take the more effective it is. Taking less will be less effective.

the full therapeutic doses are 5, 10 and 15. Half a dose step can work for many people. But not for others. The only way for it to work again is to go up again, not down,

we need to move up to our optimal dose, where it works the same 24/7. For me that was 10. For others it was a different dose, lower or higher.

so no, dropping won’t make the medicine stronger, it just is weaker.

How much do you have still to lose OP? If you're nearly at target then it's not surprising that your weight loss is slowing down. Well done on the 60lb loss!

Thank you - that’s really useful!

Thank you for your kind words! I still have another 10-15 lbs to lose but realistically I think I’ll stop at 10. I don’t think my body wants to be much smaller! 🤣🤣

I’ve come down a dose but only because I’m at goal weight now and in maintenance. I don’t think coming down a dose while still trying to lose would be a great option as less concentration of meds in your body.

You've only gained 2lb, please put it in perspective as you've done so well already. In your shoes, I would either stay on 7.5mg or count clicks to reduce a little, simply because you are feeling rotten.

Once you are tolerating the dose better, think about increasing again, but maybe take it a bit slower if you are not against the principle of click counting.

Thank you for your kind and wise words! I’m not against click counting at all so that’s a good shout. I jabbed 7.5mg on Sunday morning and I still have a very dodgy stomach. Normally I am fine after a day.

thank you, I’ll slow myself down. Super helpful!!!
