Have your experienced any side effects? There isn’t many reviews online or on forums compared to the injections

On my first day of taking it. Was drinking coke and I have a bad effect mentally. It was strange I kept crying. and saying everyone hates me, im not good to anyone. And that I was going to k%ll myself. The odd thing is I don't know why I was saying it. I knew it didn't meant it but I was saying it anyway . And I kept saying i don't know why I keep saying this. The worst thing was I was saying it to CHATGPT wtf. 🤦‍♀️ Anyway it passed afrer about 30 mins. So no more caffeine for me.

For the 1st week I did feel ill. A bit dopey. And I went through a phase of o don't care about anything . It was like having a break from life stress. But yeah it can make you feel quite crap. But it does pass. I forced myself through the bad bits and now I don't have any bad side effects.

Its been quite strong for me I spent 4 months on 1 tablet. For me it litterly turned food signals off. I could easy forget to eat/not eat. I'm on 2 tablets a day. Normally by week 4 your on 2 tablets twice a day. But i want to keep it low.

Sorry I don't know if thats helpful think I went of track

I started in Jan '25. Four stones lost in about eight months. Minimal sideffects: nausea, stomach ache, an occasional vivid nightmare: just for a month or so. Have to be vigilant about constipation though, making sure to keep fibre and water intake high.

Still taking tablets now to maintain. Will continue taking one every other day until they run out.

To anyone starting out I would suggest don't increase the dose if it's already working. My suppression was instant so I didn't need to go up like I was told to do. Staying at a low level might have reduced the side effects.

Im glad you mentioned maintaining. How does maintaining work? I have been worried being under 30bmi they would refuse it.

I’m on it. The first time I tried it I had quite strong nausea on one tablet a day, for 1-3hours after taking it. I stopped it altogether and when I went back on it, I started at half a tablet a day for several days. The most I have ever taken is 2.5 tablets per day.
I haven’t lost much weight, I use it more as a maintenance thing. I find it makes me more energetic during the day and I also sleep better at night. It does make you forget about food and also alcohol, but it makes me forget other things too, it definitely affects my working memory. I’ll go into a room and forget why I went in there.

Sorry I didn’t realise the other thread was yours! The side effects definitely put me off the most, I’m even more unsure now

Other than poor working memory, which I do think is caused by the Mysimba, I feel better on it than I did before I started it. It is actually an antidepressant and I think it energises me and I want to get more done, and I don’t need to comfort eat to prop myself up with little treats. It’s a shame you have to pay for 250 tablets at a time and that you can’t just order a trial pack of say, 50 tablets because it is a large outlay for something that might not work out for some people.

Thats ok its under a different name anyway.

The side effects do pass. When I had that weird thing happen I thibk it was because I had caffeine. I don't touch caffeine anymore. Also you can keep the dose low if that suits you

I get 112 for £99 I have never seem 250 packets

formerlyknownasBookrat · 20/04/2026 23:53

To the PP who asked about maintaining... No, that bit isn't great. It's sold in boxes of 112 on a monthly basis and there isn't any flexibility (unless that has changed.)

I ended up with a huge stockpile because four a day was way too much for me. I don't think they'd prescribe me any more now at bmi 22. Also be warned that these meds don't seem to have a very long shelf life.

Worst case scenario: when I run out I gain weight then go on again at bmi 30. Really hope it doesn't turn out that way!

Velvetandleather · 21/04/2026 06:56

I find this an interesting one, as it has such a low uptake, you’d think it would be higher, I did a quick google and it seems to be avoided due to the significant side effects ie mental health, and the high level of contra indications, ie high blood pressure, coupled with low efficacy compared to other drugs now available.

I personally haven't had any problems only at the beginning. But one person may be fine another may not.

They were quite strong for me . I stayed one 1 tablet until about a month ago. I'm now on 2 tablets. At the beginning 1 tablet completely blocked food signals for me. Had I moved myself onto the full dosage as instructed I think it would have had a bad effect on me. I do think they need better instructions. Like if they are working don't up the dose.

They are probably not as good as weight lose injections. But they are alot cheaper and could be an alternative. I have lost 4 stone on them.

I wounder what the risks/side effects mysimba vs weight lose injections.

Comedycook · 21/04/2026 13:27

Yes I tried it....took one tablet and was incredibly dizzy and vomited a lot. I felt awful. Having said that once that subsided, my aversion to food was immense. Far stronger suppression than I have with wegovy. But I just couldnt take another

Summerhillsquare · 21/04/2026 13:35

I didn't make it past the constipation stage!

You’re right, the packs are 112. I did say they’d affected my memory. Now you know I’m not lying 🤣
