Weight loss has decimated my boobs and I can’t get bras to fit!

As the title says, I’ve lost 5.5 stone and gone from a size 16 to a size 8-10. I had some loose skin some of which is slowly tightening but my breasts are hideous! 😔 3 pregnancies and lots of BF plus being 50 and menopausal obviously isn’t helping but they’re literally flat as a proverbial pancake. They were always ‘plump’ even when I was a size 12 (before WLIs) Now, they sit like empty squashed bluebells on my chest having lost virtually all fat and integrity. They’re not just saggy, they’re completely empty and just hang there down my front about 4” in length.

So, my main problem is that I cannot find bras that fit. I have been to 3 different shops to be measured and they genuinely struggled to help me. There is no roundness and all the bras-both underwires and no wires-just don’t sit properly nor offer me support. I must have tried about 30 different styles across 3 different shops. I’ve tried everything from a 34B up through cups to 34DD then tried the same in a 36. B cup doesn’t keep me in and a C cup doesn’t really either but is gaping because there’s literally no fullness to my boobs even when I lift them with my hands. 😢 I’m currently just about managing with my sports bras but even those are iffy on the fit.

Sorry for the essay. Is there anything I can do or any bra style suggestions anyone has? I can’t believe that at 50yrs old, having been married for 25yrs, I’m so concerned about my appearance that I’m contemplating a boob job.

Mine are the same after losing twice what you have. I had a video consultation with Bravissimo and 32hh keeps the old spaniels ears in place. If they get it wrong you can get a refund if you return within 30 days

SapphireOpal · 19/04/2026 18:06

If you're a size 8-10 then you should probably be in about a 30 band not a 34/36. That'll be why they're not sitting properly. Google the Boob or Bust method.

dementedpixie · 19/04/2026 18:08

If youre a size 8-10 then youre unlikely to need a 34 back size. (Im a 36 back at a size 20/22).Have you measured under your bust to get an idea of the back size you'd need? Maybe a balcony style bra could prop your breasts up and make them look fuller.

TheChosenTwo · 19/04/2026 18:09

As a size 8-10 after WLI I find myself in either a 28B or a 30A, I have saggy flat boobs now after feeding 3dc and losing volume at the time so weight loss just made them lose even more volume although they were never big in the first place!
Balconette bras are the style that I have found hold what I’ve got well, no gape at the top of the cup because the cups themselves are quite shallow.

Username19893847477374 · 19/04/2026 18:12

I'm exactly the same. Empty sacks of saggy skin. Bras don't work for me, I've been wearing these. I'm not massively bothered about the lift.

Agree you will prob be a 30 or 32 back, I was measured as 32E but I know what you mean about them not looking right.

WeAllHaveWings · 19/04/2026 18:13

Agree with others, well fitted balconette bras are the best for boobs that have lost volume on top.

i am a size 14-16 and a 32 band, H cup, good chance you need a smaller band and bigger cups

No, definitely not at my age with a very hourglass figure. I have used that method before and it really did work for me a few years ago but no way would I get a 30” bra fastened these days. Im 5ft 6 so not petite height wise either. I have toned well but still have hips and shoulders much wider than my teenage daughters who are the same size. My waist is much smaller than theirs though. I’m not sure even if I did move down a band size, I’d manage to find cups that fit and the cup issue is my problem.

I’ve had this exact problem after losing 6 stone ( from 17st9. My boobs have to be stuffed into bras like fruit roll ups and I’ve struggled HUGELY to find a bra that works. Oddly enough Shein was the best one. I measured around my chest for the back size and went for a D cup as that’s what I was when I was this size twenty years ago. The bra is actually brilliant for the price and I walked into my sisters and she said “Christ your boobs are on point!!”. Even my DH did a double take. The same brand does multiple styles and sizes and you can see by reviews what they are like. very very supportive and comfortable and honestly I’m blown away for the price. I’ve got 5 more on order

I was a 38E before the weight loss and they’ve virtually disappeared.
I tried lots of balconette bras but they seem to be the worst as they lift underneath but then the ‘bottom’ of the saggy boobs flips up and over the top rather than squish nicely into a round shape. 😔

i was in my 50's when i had a breast lift, no implants just the excess skin removed, nipple realigned.
cosmetic surgery but very worthwhile after yes BF 3.

Same here, sad little pitta breads, like putting custard in a bag

So you need a very high cup, no fancy low cut tops for you Im afraid!!

I use M+S full cup bra, the only one I can wear

Balconette!!!

You must be joking, there is nothing on top, it doesnt push up liquid. It means my boobs are just empty skin at the top, crepey and hanging over the top

FoxRedPuppy · 19/04/2026 18:26

I’m 5’6 and a size 12 and I wear a 32 band. I just sort of scoop them up and stuff them in!

Have you measured under your boobs really tightly. Like it feels like the tape might break?

minipie · 19/04/2026 18:28

I think you need padded bras - not wonderbra style but just a thinnish modesty style pad to give some shape and sort of gather up your breast tissue.

and I do agree with trying smaller band size but maybe not as low as 30, perhaps try 32 and see if it’s better.

museumum · 19/04/2026 18:29

I’ve heard people suggest balcón eye but I just get spillage if I lean forward. Im going “full cup” fantasie right now and considering miss Mary.

DottyMcDiet · 19/04/2026 18:31

Oh God! Mine have shrunk after loosing 6 stone but I’ve about 3 more to go.
They’re only going to get worse, aren’t they? 🫣

Itisallastruggle · 19/04/2026 18:32

Please get a tape measure and check your under bust measurement. I’d be very surprised if it’s not smaller than 34/36 inch. This is what you need in a supportive bra. When you say this wouldn’t fit anymore, that’s because the back has to be paired with the correct cup as well - a 30A for example, will not go round as far as a 30F. However, in a smaller back size, the cups are wider and flatter, rather than projected. It’s complicated but honestly, it does work.

My boobs are similar after breastfeeding and small to look at, yet I’m in a 32F. The cup is shallow but it goes slightly under my armpit and that catches the spill that I had in smaller cups. They may not project a lot, but many of us need a bit more under our armpits to scoop into it. Back fat, for example, is often actually misplaced breast tissue and will migrate back into the cup if it’s wide enough.

Boob or bust has lots of images on their Facebook which explains how back size and cup relate to each other and how a 28G is so much smaller and flatter than a 38G.

Willowy2 · 19/04/2026 18:33

I'm similiar, lost 5.5 stone and I'm now a size 8 and also 3 kids, all breastfed has left me with very small but volume-less boobs. I do alot of chest work in the gym, which has given them some lift. I wear these from Shein in a size 8 (yes I know it's Shein 🙄) but like you have tried all expensive proper bra fitting services but my boobs just don't sit in any proper bras. Or they look OK at the fit, but when I'm actually wearing them day to day I bend over or something and then I'm falling out the top! These bras are soft cup, and remind me of very first teenage bras. My boobs just sort of squish into them, gives me shape and I love the way they look. Plus no falling out of the sides or over the top. I've been wearing these for a year now, very comfortable and have worn and washed very well.

Weight loss has decimated my boobs and I can’t get bras to fit!

Trust us. You are not a 34 inch band! What is your actual back measurement?

I think when people suggest things like push ups, underwire, balconette, they really show they dont understand the problem. You cant push up blancmange. Mine are just skin, there is very little flesh.

Tontostitis · 19/04/2026 18:37

I'm a 5ft 6 and wear a 32 G full cup side sling. M and S told me I was a 34 DD and I just had weird pushed up creepy skin. Same with balconette bras. M and S are rubbish imo and only Bravissimo have ever got my size right.

Twasasurprise · 19/04/2026 18:41

I need full cup now. Balcony style are great until I bend over, then my boobs fall out of them. I'm a similar size with a similar loss. I wear a 36C non-wired supermarket (M&S or Sainsburys) now from 42DD. 5'5", 8st 12.

No not joking at all. I’m older, lost over 9st, gone from 42GG to 32G so a few cups volume wise down and they have gone south. The right balconette style and size, works very well for me as recommended on boob or bust (below). Yes there is crinkling but they give me good support and shape under clothes and I don’t wear low necklines. If your boobs are hanging over the top of the cup you have the wrong size.

True balconettes are cut horizontally just above the bust line. Plunge are low at the central gore. Both styles are better suited to women who are full on the bottom. Full cup styles are cut higher and suit top heavy breasts as they encase the whole breast. Balcony styles have a sweetheart neckline and will suit breasts with even fullness.

Hotfirewood · 19/04/2026 19:03

Have you tried Lemonade bras. I’ve seen them advertised quite a lot and they’re less about cup size and more about dress size, I think.

My boobs have stayed the same so far. I think due to my HRT oestrogen patches. I’m now wearing a size 10, having lost 2 stone over 4 months on MJ. Much slower than I’d have liked, but I’ve kept the same “look” boob-wise thank goodness. ChatGPT said that losing weight very quickly causes loss of breast tissue, as well as dropping below 24 BMI. So I’ll see what happens with the final stone I want to lose.

ShrankLastWinter · 19/04/2026 19:04

Rigby and Peller sorted me out. Nice lady tried 10s of bras on me until she’d got a couple that worked. She said she’s seeing lots of women who’ve lost loads of weight so she’s getting the, err, hang of it.
