Will any provider prescribe a 5mg weight loss injection after a gap?

I think I've messed up, I stocked up last August before the price increases, now need to order again I only have a few doses left, I was originally on 2.5 went up to 3.75(from a 5mg pen) now ready to go to 5. I was with med express and they won't prescribe 5mg because of the gap. Even though they can see I ordered numerous pens from them. I don't want to go back to 2.5 but my last prescription is August for 5mg. Is there anywhere that will let me order a 5?

Try having a GP appointment with Swift and explaining the circumstances? Generally though after an 8 week gap need to start at 2.5mg.

Maybe one of the doctor led pharmacies like SwiftDoctor or Pharmulous? If you can explain and show the ordering history to them. If you had used the pens as intended for 4 doses, when would that have got you to from August?

Worse case scenario you could order a 2.5mg pen and use a syringe to do 5mg doses, and then order the next 5mg pen as soon as you are allowed to by the same or another pharmacy.

If you have been partial dosing, unless you can show enough prescriptions were bought in August for 6-7 months continuous treatment you might be on to plums unless you find an understanding pharmacy.

You might need to swallow buying one 2.5mg before increasing to 5mg on the next order. Overall you will still be ££s up due to the partial dosing.

Make sure you only order from legit and safe GPhC registered pharmacies (always be suspicious of anyone who will only private message you advice)

Order 1 x 2.5mg pen and double dose then order a 5mg pen 2 weeks later?

I think this might be the answer albeit the expensive one!

Not sure - swift allow partial dosing as long as you order every 7 weeks. So I think can set it out showing pens bought August and each one lasting 5-7 weeks. I think will need to cough up the £30 for the GP appointment though.

I hadn’t ordered since last September, a 10mg pen. I explained to Swift by text that I had been reducing my dose and now wanted to buy a 5mg and dose 40 clicks from it. They prescribed without problem.

Nellodee · 17/04/2026 06:23

I didn’t do the GP appointment, just wrote my explanation in the comments section provided.

I have 5mg on the way from swift. Last ordered from a different pharmacy in August last year, have never used swift before.
I did the maintenance consultation call last week i think it was, then ordered this week.
2 hours from order to approval!

Dont go straight to 5 after a gap (unless you are splitting the dose) I did, after a successful year on MJ and then a gap and i was sooooo ill for two days. Vomiting and diarrhoea.
