Anyone found Wegovy improves functioning but Mounjaro helps more with weight loss?

I have lost 8 stone on mounjaro since April 2024. I did struggle with side effects but put up with it and don’t regret that. I went up to 15mg.

At Christmas, I switched to wegovy and gained a stone back. This was due to cost. So I’ve recently switched back to mounjaro.

The problem is, I feel brilliant on wegovy and rubbish on mounjaro. I have ADHD, and wegovy has a brilliant effect on my executive function and overall functioning. I’m energetic, focused and happy. Mounjaro makes me exhausted and lethargic, but all the food noise is gone, so that is liberating.

I’m now on 10mg mounjaro, losing the weight I gained, and not sure what to do. Has anyone else found the same? What conclusion did you come to?

I’m happy to sacrifice a bit of the appetite suppression for the overall functioning, and adhd control. But not if it means I’m going to put all the weight back on.

That's interesting. I haven't tried Wegovy but I do find that MJ helps with my ADHD.

Could it be you’re on too high a dose of mounjaro, are you relying on it doing the heavy lifting for you ?

I don’t have ADHD so can’t comment on that but MJ makes me tired and lethargic if I go to 5mg so I am having to take it slow and steady the lower dose. How are you on a lower dose of MJ?

I switched to Wegovy after a year on MJ mainly due to the cost. I havent really lost on Wegovy, just maintaining but I am on the second month of 1mg and it feels like suppression is starting to kick in and I am hopeful my losses may continue.

I did however have issues with very low mood on MJ, I couldn't be bothered with anything, and at its best life just felt dull and flat. With Wegovy my mood is definitely better, to where it should be. I know MJ is more effective for weightloss than Wegovy as I think it has more of the active ingredients in, so I assume thats what it is.

Before starting MJ I had no issues with depression, low mood or anything like ADHD so it was definitely noticeable on MJ.

This is so interesting I’ve recently started MJ and the WL is going well - but I’ve felt very low over the last few weeks and just thought it was down to me eating less - but this could be it! Really interested to know what are the signs I should look out for and if the switch to Wegovy makes sense?

Definitely felt flat on it as did my friends, just “meh” and lost our personalities a bit. Previously got a lot of excitement from food and socialising
But once the weight was lost obviously then truly became ourselves again, confident, happy once stopped the jabs
it’s just a temporary feeling while on them

I don’t intend to stop and plan to stay on a maintenance dose, so I think it needs to be sustainable.

It could be this. 10mg is the lowest dose I’ve been on for a good while. I’ve only just started on this dose after trying wegovy so i won’t be in any hurry to increase the dose

I haven’t been on a lower dose for ages, so i can’t remember. I felt really unwell when I first started mj. It might be worth dropping the dose to see…monunjaro hasn’t improved my adhd though and that contributed a lot to a brilliant quality of life on wegovy

I started on MJ in January last year and switched to WG in September. I’ve lost just under 8 stone and am maintaining. I have to say, I prefer MJ and am currently looking at switching back to continue maintenance. Different for different people I guess!
