Has anyone been refused a Wegovy repeat prescription for maintenance?

I have been using Wegovy from Chemist4U for a couple of years. I have gone from 89kg to 59/60kg. I am now just under 22 BMI. I have been around 60kg for the last five months or so. I am not looking to lose any further weight. I have been on 2.4mg dose all this time and am just seeking now to maintain. I am doing reformer Pilates and feeling very healthy and good.

Unfortunately, Chemist4U has just declined my re-order on the basis that it is apparent from my photo that I do not need any further weight loss. I agree with this and am just maintaining. But there does not seem to be any mechanism for me to discuss this with anyone. Nor does it seem that they noticed I have not lost any real weight for the last five months.

Had this happened to anyone else?

If you are not keen on WLI and would comment that I should do it by myself now etc I would be really grateful if you could scroll past this one without commenting. Thank you.

I'm nowhere near that yet but I wondered if you could just try another pharmacy.

RedApplePie · 07/04/2026 14:29

If you are really stuck Dr Emma Anders is a GP who will prescribe for maintenance - you can get them direct from her or you can just get the prescription to take to your local chemist. The downside of course is her consultation fee. She is based in Cheshire but does virtual appts. You

Well, that. Was rude, MN cut off half my post there! But basically said you can find her website on line and she’s active on YouTube

Try one of the maintenance friendly pharmacies on igovy.co.uk. I notice Chemist 4U is not on the list.

But be aware even maintenance friendly pharmacies will potentially decline if the numbers and what they can see in photo/video raise any concerns for them.

I would suggest avoiding medication as much as possible, because medicine can have long-term side effects.

keepswimming38 · 07/04/2026 16:11

@Optimistic252she didn’t ask that!

Mysticmaiden · 11/04/2026 04:37

Oushk, swift Dr and pharmulous are good maintenance pharmacies. I'm with oushk and maintaining at bmi 22.0.

Oh dear. What a monumentally ignorant comment! 😂

Would you say that to someone taking blood pressure medication, diabetic medication, heart medication?

Mounjaro is prescribed for Obesity patients and yes, they’re meant to take it long term. My GP prescribed it for me and told me this at my first appointment.

I’ve just been refused my current maintenance dose of 5mg by MedExpress: “Sorry, we do not have a suitable weight loss treatment for you
Based on the details you provided, we cannot safely prescribe weight loss medication for you. We recommend asking your GP for advice about losing weight.”

MoneyJo · Yesterday 07:19

Do you know why that is @EmptyingNest ?

EmptyingNest · Yesterday 07:24

I’ve been on the ‘chat’ function this morning. It appears to be because my BMI has successfully dropped and MedExpress doesn’t do maintenance. I’ve been on 5mg for about 4 months

Charlenedickens · Yesterday 08:17

Look at monj.co.uk for maintenance pharmacies. Med express etc are not and are known to just cut people off. It’s very odd. But they’ve always been a bit shit.
