Wegovy newbie

Hi!
I hope it is ok to post, I know there are many similar.
I have never had WLI before but started Wegovy yesterday evening (0.25). I feel absolutely no different, no side effects, no reduction in appetite? I know it’s very early and it probably needs to build up but it is feeling very anti-climatic! Can anyone shed any light on/ reassurance on the Wegovy journey?!

Thank you!

Hi, I also took my first jab of Wegovy yesterday afternoon, I’ve had really bad indigestion all day so haven’t really wanted to eat but I don’t know if there’s any suppression yet if that makes sense! I’ve got everything crossed that it kicks in properly for us over the next few days! x

Oh that’s exciting we are on the same journey! Every now and again I’ve wondered if I feel anything but it hasn’t stopped me from hitting the biscuits in the office at 3pm and eating a huge bowl of pasta for dinner - all the things I was hoping would be easier to avoid!

For me, it was instant. The next morning, I picked up a croissant, took two bites, and then felt my whole body say "NO!" I could not have eaten a mouthful more (and I say this as someone who, if no-one else was looking, would really have liked to have eaten four or five croissants in one go before the jab).
However, my friend didn't feel anything really until she was about six weeks in although she did lose weight but quite slowly from the beginning.
We are both now at our target weights (I lost 70lbs and have been maintaining for 18 months. She lost 90lbs and has been maintaining for about a year).

I need your level of aversion because I could also quite easily eat 4 without anyone watching hence needing the WLI lol!
I have heard other people who have taken a while to feel a difference because in theory the 0.25 is a loading dose - but I am also impatient!
You and your friend have both done amazingly! Can I ask if this is only on wegovy or have you had mounjaro previously? I’ve heard a lot of people moving from mounjaro to Wegovy!

Wow @Ruthietuthieyou have both done amazing to lose so much weight and keep it off, such an inspiration! That makes me feel very hopeful!

@Ellswells3I’ve had a few hunger pangs tonight because I’m just about to eat my tea but I haven’t been hungry most of the day, still don’t know if it’s just because I felt so rubbish or if it’s the jab working yet so we’ll see how tomorrow goes! Fingers crossed tomorrow is a better day for you too, hopefully you’ll wake up with some suppression and have an amazing day! x

It’s so hard to know isn’t it, you micro-analyse!
Fingers crossed we both wake up in the morning with appetite suppression and no nasty side effects!

Saying hello as i took my first dose of Wegovy last Saturday evening so still in my first week as well

I felt a change the next day. I feel full quite quickly when i eat and the constant food noise has gone.

I’ve 4.5 stone to loose, possibly 5 will decide that when I’m closer. I’m hoping I will see a change on the scales when I weigh in again on Saturday

Ruthietuthie · 02/04/2026 01:22

@Ellswells3, it was actually on a generic semaglutide, so generic Ozempic. I am in the US so slightly different.

LauraC1984 · 02/04/2026 08:45

Hi @Toomuchtothinkofgood luck for Saturday and let us know how you get on! Have you had any side effects since starting? x

thanks, will share an update on Saturday 😀

my only side effect so far is I was starting to get constipated. Prob sharing too much info but Im a regular morning person and I was uncomfy by Monday, so took some senna before bed and that worked Tues am

Id also seen psyllium husk recommended. Found some capsules on Amazon so have been taking them after my dinner for past two days and I’m happily back to a regular once a morning girl. Think it cost me £10 for 3 months supply of capsules, I didn’t like the look of the powder husk

how you getting on?

creamcheeseandlox · 02/04/2026 12:55

Hello. I'm a newbie. Took my first jab last night. I am not sure what effects to look for. How do you know the suppression has started? Is it just not a desire to eat?? I have 2.5 stone to loose so not loads but I'm short so it's noticeable as I've gone up 2 dress sizes 😞. I'm very impatient and want it all to work today 😂. Oh well let's see how the week pans out!

LauraC1984 · 02/04/2026 13:18

I read about the psyllium husk but I didn’t realise you could get capsules, I don’t like the thought of the powder either but I might order some capsules just in case. Thanks for the heads up!
I’ve had a mixture of heartburn and mild nausea the last couple of days but it seems to be easing off now so fingers crossed I’m over the worst of it!

Hi @creamcheeseandloxim super impatient too, I’m only on day 2/3 but want to be a skinny Minnie already haha!
im not sure what suppression is suppose to feel like, i definitely still feel hungry before meals at the minute but i feel like its easier to not over eat if that makes sense! I just hope it keeps up! x

My experience with WLI is the same as yours, the next day I was meant to be going out to eat with my son and his GF and I spent the whole time trying to avoid eating and playing with my food.

Because you felt sick or you didn't feel hungry?

Welcome! It’s nice having people at the same point of the journey. I haven’t eaten masses today as I’ve had a really busy day at work, but I wouldn’t say my appetite is suppressed just more lack of opportunity! I don’t think I feel any different grrrr, can’t wait for the next jab, hopefully that starts to build the drug in my system!

Checking in as first dose today and 3 stone to lose. Hoping it helps with the food noise!

Hepzibar · 05/04/2026 07:31

@georgiawI started last week, also have 3 stone to loose, would be happy with 2 (2dress sizes). Scales showinga 1.5k (just over 3lb) loss. Pleased with progress so far

hoodiemassive · 05/04/2026 10:12

How you going @Ellswells3? I did my first jab yesterday and think I can feel a bit of suppression but could be all in my head!! I have three stone to loose so am hoping this works…

creamcheeseandlox · 05/04/2026 12:35

I've had some diarrhoea the last few days. Went to a beer festival last night and had some drinks, a small chinese on the way home and was sick when I got back and had terrible stomach cramps. It was definitely the greasy food rather than the ciders as it was only after eating I felt ill. Am getting the suppression in that I'm not feeling hungry and haven't eaten anything today so far apart from a very small chocolate egg but I think some of it is psychological? Got a lamb dinner later so hopefully will have a appetite for that.

Cysco · 05/04/2026 17:40

Hi please can I join you 🙂 I'm 53, bmi 28, hoping to lose at least a stone. Just finding it so tricky so am trying wegovy !

I am not sure! Finding it tricky to tune in to my body which maybe means something?! Today I realised it had got to 6pm and all I’d had was a sausage bap & a piece of cake which although isn’t healthy food - it wasn’t much in the way of calories and I wasn’t necessarily thinking of food but again was busy. Had a Chinese, ate too quickly and then felt nauseous but again I feel like that is quite normal when you scoff down a take away 🤣 I’m really excited to take the second dose as hoping that starts to build it up in my system?!
I am really torn about whether to go for MJ instead as I have read about quicker results but the flip side is it is much more expensive which I really can’t justify when I haven’t given the Wegovy a proper try!
