BMI 25 have I got any chance of being allowed to buy weight loss injections?

That’s my question really - would appreciate any advice. For context I am 43 yo mother of three with my youngest 3 yo. I weigh 75 kg and want to try to about 70 and I am struggling to shift the dial via fasting and exercise.

the Boots website says you have to be BMI 27 or 30’eithout conditions to be allowed to start but wondering anyone else has managed it with a slightly lower BMI?

Someone with a lower BMI on a lower dose will have a very different experience to obese people. If it simply wasn’t possible to get to a much lower BMI you wouldn’t be seeing newspapers calling out “ozempic face”. Sadly, WLI can and do cause too much weight loss, a very tangible issue, both socially and medically I will accept is real.

YES THAT IS MY POINT. JFC. The OP is not going to be prescribed 15mg to start. She will start on a low dose and might not notice an effect. FFS just stop reading into what I’m saying like I am critical of her choice. It’s a lot of money to put into a solution that might bot work well if she is close to a normal weight.

What? Did you quote the wrong person?

Sorry but her 10 lbs isn’t the same as my obesity, T2 diabetes, and metabolic disease. Her life isn’t in danger, the NHS isn’t giving her free medication because she has a chronic weight-related disease, it’s completely different.

If OP wants to pay privately, and take the risks, why shouldn’t she have the same opportunity as people who reduce from a higher weight to BMI 23 and continue on a long term maintenance dose?

It doesn’t make sense to me to allow patients to reduce their weight to BMI 22/23, but not allow people at BMI 25 access the meds. BMI 25 is on the edge of overweight and it can be difficult to stop the dial going up and up with life pressures.

I hope you find a provider OP.

You could try microdosing with Healand Clinic

Yikes – this is such an embarrassing take. Declaring women jealous and furious of other women's conventional attractiveness? Talk about misogyny.

But also true, duck

Thank you and I completely agree with you

I don’t have a personal view on whether you could/should get a prescription, but I would suggest looking at other ways to improve your body (taking what you say at face value obvs - I don’t know what you look like). Adding protein, looking at your macros, hydration, lifting weights, improving sleep are likely to do more for body composition than just fasting and cardio and will potentially last longer as they are changing habits. There are a few people on social media who talk about this, the second one I’ve listed is slightly older but would still have some good advice for you even if you don’t want to actually become a bodybuilder (btw I follow them for hints, I haven’t subscribed to either)
