I noticed a little constipation developing , so i researched what to do. Mumsnet and reddit threads, and chatgpt are sooooo helpful!
I have a staged plan. Depending on how bad it gets.
In case anyone’s interested …. (caveat - I’m not a doctor and haven’t spoken to a doctor/pharmscist about this)
A key issue i think is not to take constipation remedies that speed up transit (eg Movicol) - because one of the ways MJ helps reduce hunger is by slowing down digestion.
So i’ve started taking Dulcoease morning and night. They are nice small capsules - very easy. Just keep waste a bit softer. Available on Amazon Prime. can increase the dosage if i need .
I bought some glycerin suppositories just in case sudden problem. They help everything out at the end. I don’t plan to use these unless necessary.
And I have magnesium citrate in my shopping basket - which apparently you take overnight if you need a bit more moisture. It draws in water to the digestive channel. (not to be mixed up with other forms of magnesium which can have the opposite effect!)
I also bought some phyllium husk capsules in a sensible size, to make sure i’m getting enough fibre for gut biome.
(It’s interesting that some people get constipation and others get the runs.)
