Hi starting mounjaro this week is there a thread already set up I can join?

OP posts:

I took it at a random time mid morning, as the leaflet said there’s no difference, and most sources online state there’s usually no big side effects in first 12h, and the range when they show is so huge 24-72h, that it seemed indifferent what time to do it.

apricotdreams · 15/04/2026 15:37

Hi all one week done. I have lost 7 pounds! Very pleased about that but not enjoying the side effect of stomach ache and diarrhoea and worse fibro symptoms. Hoping next week they ease off as my system adjusts.

Wingingit11 · 15/04/2026 16:44

@MessyNDepressy I think it always wears off around 5 days.

Sidebeforeself · 15/04/2026 18:28

Me again. Im so sorry to inject ( ha!) negativity into this thread and really do wish you all the best but Im worried about my DH. He’s on his second week and really is quite ill. He’s lost 9lbs but that because he has the most awful diarrhoea. He can hardly eat a thing and is exhausted. He’s on a private prescription but I think he needs to see a GP. Anyone else like this …will it get better? He’s due to inject again on Sat but I really dont want him to.

Farsideofthemoon · 15/04/2026 18:39

@Sidebeforeself I don’t think any of us know enough to give you the correct medical advice but I think severe diarrhoea and exhaustion needs checking out, whether that’s via your private prescription provider or your GP. It depends how unwell you feel your DH is. Maybe someone on here who has had the same symptoms will be along to share their experience and what they did that worked. Definitely if nothing else he needs to keep hydrated and I personally wouldn’t be doing another injection at the weekend until I had seen or spoken to someone qualified.

Sidebeforeself · 15/04/2026 18:42

@Farsideofthemoon Thanks. I think you are right. We’d been hoping he could ride it out but Im so worried. From the comments on here so far it doesnt sound like anyone take has it so bad!

Wingingit11 · 15/04/2026 19:22

@Sidebeforeself definitely contact the prescriber. It may be he just doesn’t tolerate well and he might need to draw a halt but I wouldn’t start another round personally if it’s really that bad (though depending on starting weight, 9lb over two weeks for a man might not be excessive of itself but the gastro stuff doesn’t sound good)

Isabelle70 · 15/04/2026 20:25

I have a blood test booked for Friday, then the Doctor on Tuesday and if she approves a prescription issued and then an appointment with the nurse.
If you work Monday to Friday, what day do you start to use the medication? On a Thursday so the side effects can be over the weekend?

I would definitely recommend speaking to his GP or prescriber about the effects that he is having as I would say these are very severe and not normal. X

That's a fabulous loss, hopefully the side effects will ease off for you soon

Thankyou. I was worrying I was over reacting but its good to have others perspectives. He’s agreed he wont jab again until he has medical advice.

@MessyNDepressy I think it always wears off around 5 days.

That makes me feel a bit better, I think I was catastrophizing a little earlier! Today/tonight has been fine, I’ve had about 1609 calories and no major food noise.

@Sidebeforeself That’s a shame your husband is having such severe side effects, I hope he feels better soon.

I started mine last Friday for this exact reason - if I’m struggling with side effects then at least I have a couple of days off work.

custardlover · 15/04/2026 21:42

I started on Friday for that reason too. It turns out I haven’t had any side effects so it wasn’t necessary (yet anyway!) but that gave me some peace of mind.

custardlover · 15/04/2026 21:43

I’m interested in what everyone is eating! I have rediscovered cottage cheese - I used to love it but forgot it for years - have enjoyed it on toast as lunch one day this week (plus some chopped spring onion and chilli flakes) and it was delicious. Otherwise I have had a week of fish - salmon x2, basa, hake. All yum.

NeedSleepNowPls · 15/04/2026 22:25

Also very interested to hear what everyone is eating! My first pen has been approved and is on its way so I'll be starting in a day or two! Does anyone have any do/ don'ts for what to eat before/after the jabs? I've read to prioritise protein and veg/ fibre but wondering if any foods need to be avoided too

MyGardenDaisies · 15/04/2026 23:06

I’m eating :
low fat Greek yogurt with granola and strawberries + coffee

protein bagels with ham, cream cheese and tomatoes

beef meatballs in a ciabatta roll

snacks : Arla high protein yogurt

I have a lot to lose (40kg) and I’m active, so my deficit range is 1900-2100kcal.

ive been spending lots of time crafting an “exit strategy” to beat statistical odds and not regain after stopping

pomegranatepie · 16/04/2026 07:32

I'm eating-
Greek yogurt, kefir, berries, mixed seeds and adding milled flaxseed and protein powder and creatine. Or the above blended into a smoothie.

Salad and chicken, or another protein source.

Whatever the family meal is in the evening, just a smaller portion. Last night was buckwheat Pasta with Bolognese and grated parmesan, the night before was one sausage, half a small baked potato and greens.

I have had no desire to snack so far (most unusual for me!)

didldidi · 16/04/2026 07:34

How was the 2nd weigh in @NorthDevonBeachLover?

MyGardenDaisies · 16/04/2026 08:13

3 days and -1.7kg. ChatGPT calls me an early responder haha

Ive managed to work, do a strength training and socialise all fine, didn’t have headaches anymore on day 3.

Today is day 4 and I’m curious if the effects will start wearing off soon.

Z0rr0 · 16/04/2026 08:30

Today is injection day week 2 for me. Appetite suppression has been very effective and although I get a little hungry it’s very manageable and I haven’t really snacked at all. Don’t spend lots of time thinking about what I could eat which is good too. Only lost 2lbs though which is a little disappointing, though I have less to lose than some, so knew the weight loss wouldn’t be dramatic. Hoped for 3 or 4 though if I’m honest. Still, 2 a week will see me 8 or 9 lbs down by the end of the month which would be good. I had silken tofu in a soup last night for dinner so this morning I’m trying a berry and banana tofu smoothie for breakfast. Will report back!

Z0rr0 · 16/04/2026 08:33

Oh also I had no side effects to speak of, which is obviously a massive bonus. Let’s do this!

Wingingit11 · 16/04/2026 09:25

@Z0rr0 well done - slow and steady wins the race and all that. I dropped over 5 stone on MJ last time and was also slow !

NorthDevonBeachLover · 16/04/2026 09:45

didldidi · 16/04/2026 07:34

How was the 2nd weigh in @NorthDevonBeachLover?

2.5lb off in my second week so total loss of 8lb in two weeks. Keeping up with water intake and protein but am struggling fibre wise as very few bowel movements! How was your weigh in?

MyGardenDaisies · 16/04/2026 09:47

@Wingingit11 how come you are restarting ? Or continuying after a break?
