@jins sending you strength to get through today.

HeidiLite · 30/04/2026 08:43

sending strenght @Jins

@Polkadotdash your reviewer does not seem to know what they're talking about. Be assertive, but also, don't?

OP posts:
Polkadotdash · 30/04/2026 11:16

@HeidiLite this is the level of nonsense I have to deal with. My workplace absolutely favours extroverts. The ones who do all the talking and none of the doing. The ones who can’t lead because they are too busy with their own egos whilst the rest of us muddle along in a state of chaos, get told to stop doing stuff and start other things and then get criticised for it. And then they get to judge me for being an introvert, with tonnes of experience who just gets stuff done. It’s a good job that I’m feeling tired and weak this week or I might have said something I would regret.

HeidiLite · 30/04/2026 11:29

yes I have some colleagues who, if you listen to them, have basically done ALLLL the work. Usually full of hot air. LinkedIn also gives you a good example, when you read a colleague's CV about how they are responsible for this and managed that, and you just think: no you aren't! And you absolutely did not!

I also saw GP today to talk about general exhaustion, ask for a blood test etc. She asked me how I was doing on MJ. I said I hadn’t lost anything for months. Her advice was to stop taking it and go to the gym instead. Not sure that that’s too helpful, really. I’m surprised she didn’t add ‘eat less and move more’ to her diagnosis. And she agrees with me that my hysterectomy has probably caused some other issues with my pelvic floor. What joy! Shoot me now.

MJalltheway · 30/04/2026 16:49

Oh @Polkadotdash i hope you get some answers from your blood test. Doesn't sound a particularly helpful GP though - just go to the gym? If only it were that easy. 🤦‍♀️

interview went well, I have a second one arranged next week already! 😁

Hope the day has gone as well as it could @Jins 💐

HeidiLite · 30/04/2026 19:39

OMG why do some people (doctors!) think we use MJ instead of diet and exercise? I just won second place in my gym's pull up competiton, I think I'm good - still need MJ though.

OP posts:
Polkadotdash · 30/04/2026 23:08

@MJalltheway thats great news about the second interview. Did you like the sound of the role?

The other bit of sage advice the GP had was ‘park your car a bit further away from work and walk’. Erm, I park at the station that’s 50 miles from my office. How much further away should I be parking? I didn’t say it though, as I thought it might sound a bit arsey.
I know I’m moaning, but I don’t envy GPs at all. They never know what someone is going to walk through the door with, they have 10 mins max to ask, diagnose and decide on a course of action. And that’s on repeat every day for hours on end. I couldn’t do that.

Jins · 01/05/2026 06:57

I’m really lucky with my gp. He grilled me on MJ last year as he was training to prescribe. He’s quite young and seems really clued up on things generally but we had a really good chat about the importance of treating the condition rather than the symptoms. Hence me being the first in the practice to be prescribed my insomnia drug. When we move we want to stay in the practice area 🤣

The funeral went pretty well and we’re all relieved it’s over. Always difficult occasions but very important.

I weighed in yesterday and I’ve dropped to 8st 7. That was the weight I dreamed of when starting MJ. It feels as if I’ve finished the job although it is a little bit light for me nowadays. BMI is 21.1 and I really don’t want to drop below 21. On the other hand it will allow me to indulge myself on holiday.

Good luck for the second interview @MJalltheway. Exciting.

BreezyPeer · 01/05/2026 07:45

Morning losers and mainteners! 🌄
@HeidiLite what an amazing result that you are the same weight as last summer

@PenelopePitstopPersists what a great measurable difference. Bath sheet to bath towel. You will be using a hand towel soon 🤣
@myladyjane maintenance is a whole new world! I just checked my shotsy 'journey ' it's very interesting 4 months in maintenance but it still feels like a struggle every day!
@MJalltheway so sorry to hear about your friend 🧡 hope the funeral goes as well as it can

I am doing my arm exercises every day and hoping that this will lead to toning up! Also, my ( until now) secret target for this year is doing a proper full push up. So, stronger arms will help.

Have a good friday everyone and enjoy the bank holiday if you are off xxx

HeidiLite · 01/05/2026 08:08

hello @BreezyPeer
This morning I'm actually a kilo heavier, but that is manageable.
Now those push-ups, you can do them on your knees, right? What really helped me was doing a full negative (meaning go down on your toes) and then drop to knees for the pushing up part. And like with pull-ups, once you get your first proper one, the next ones are way easier.

Yes it's holiday here and weather is glorious, so going for a nice long hike with friends, respective kids and dogs.

myladyjane · 01/05/2026 08:32

@Jins pleased yesterday went as well as could be expected

@MJalltheway good luck for the second round!

@BreezyPeer lovely to see you

i have had an exercise light week so dd dragged me to the gym this morning. I did my little routine but I think I now need to start tracking my weights a bit more consistently. I did a set on the assisted pull up machine but really I should had done 3 sets of a handful rather than one set and too knackered to do more I think. But hey I did them.

funny weekend for me - nice day out planned for Monday but GCSEs start a week today and both dds are on a knife’s edge so trying to judge what they need with my desperate need for a break after some horrible work stuff

MJalltheway · 01/05/2026 09:12

@myladyjane i use the Hevy app to track weights in the gym. It's very straightforward to use and you can create and save different workouts so once you've got a couple set up there's little input needed.
good luck to your girls for GCSEs, we've got a levels starting in 10 days too, nerves are definitely starting to build. 🍀 😬

Jins · 02/05/2026 08:16

Challenging week now officially over and it’s the weekend. DS2 has improved dramatically since the funeral thank goodness. I’m going to spend the weekend pottering around the house and garden. I think I’m now sorted with swimwear for my hols and I’ve probably got enough clothes to take so I can relax on that front.

It’s jab day and I’ll be squeezing the last drops out of my 10mg pen. I’ve weighed in at 8.7 again so it’s possibly not a fluctuation. In any case I tend to think of gains as fluctuations rather than losses. I don’t want to lose any more at this stage but I’m in a good position to be a complete glutton on holiday and will reassess at the end of May. I need to order again so will probably order a 7.5mg. I have a 7.5 in stock in any case so may switch to that and keep the 10mg in reserve for extended microdosing. Dilemmas aren’t what they used to be.

Hope everyone has a great weekend

Polkadotdash · 02/05/2026 08:38

@jins glad you got through yesterday and you sound like you are all breathing out a heavy sigh of relief and ready to close that chapter x

Polkadotdash · 02/05/2026 08:51

Aiming to rest as much as possible this weekend. Husband is working all weekend, so kids will have to entertain themselves. Not that they want to go on little excursions with me any more and the older two are ‘locked in’ to exam revision. GP upped my happy pills prescription when I saw her the other day. Feels like a sticking plaster tbh. What with work being a non stop shit show, issues post hysterectomy and not losing weight, I’m in a bit of a hole. Because it was so hot yesterday I tried on a sleeveless top and quickly took it off again. I know I should care what I look like, I’m 51, no one is looking at me etc etc but I looked hideous. Does anyone remember the tap dance act The Roly Polys? I looked like I should join them. Actually, thinking about the Roly Polys I wonder whether that was the pinnacle of late 20th century fat-ism? Making a circus type act from women with ordinary body shapes. Or were they just being body positive? I think they deserve an apology, in retrospect!

PenelopePitstopPersists · 02/05/2026 09:04

@BreezyPeer , it is really noticeable - bath sheet to towel. I used to always take two towels from the stack at the pool before showering to make sure I covered all of the gaps.

@Polkadotdash , I don't remember the Roly Polys. 🌸I am sure you don't look hideous but I know it is hard to remain positive when you are dealing with all sorts of stuff and difficult to feel positive about clothes when you are not happy with your size.

I bought a few size 16 summer clothes last year on the way down, I can't remember what I bought without getting them out of the loft, but they will be linen or cotton mostly, I doubt there will be anything sleeveless because I don't do sun very well.

Please send me a message if you are remotely interested in me sending them to you if you're happy to exchange details with a random on the internet. I could send photos and would be very happy to post them to you. I'm posting clothes to SmartWorks so it makes no difference to me at all cost wise.

Polkadotdash · 02/05/2026 09:33

@PenelopePitstopPersists god love you, that’s so kind ❤️. If I wasn’t a big blubbery mess already, I am now.

HeidiLite · 02/05/2026 12:18

sorry @Polkadotdash , sounds like one thing on top of the other, hope it gets better.

@Jins must be a relief, we are always as happy as our unhappiest child.

Long hike yesterday with friends, many kids and dogs. Today already did both Costco and IKEA - that surely counts as sports? Still planning a gym session and maybe a run on top, as am 59 kilos and want to be 57.

BreezyPeer · 03/05/2026 09:17

@HeidiLite that's a great tip about going down in a full push up. You are right, I can do on my knees,
@myladyjane we had gcses last year! I'm glad its over. I wish you peace and calm and untroubled study for the next few weeks 🙏
@jins glad to hear things went as well as they could. I hope youare having a good bank holiday now
@Polkadotdash I'm sorry things are so hard right now. Hopefully the medication will help a bit. And life will take a turn for the better.

DGmaintaining · 03/05/2026 09:43

Happy Bank Holiday weekend all!

The week just gone has been a slightly better one at work, and everyone in the house managed to make it out of the house every day, including autistic DS1 (which is a new record). So that’s a good week to be grateful for.

I’ve been jabbing 22 clicks on a 5mg pen and that seems to have taken the edge off my perma hunger so I’m able to have a little bit more control. I am firmly in the 58.5-59.5kg bracket now (was 57.5-58.5kg from Sept-March), but as I mentioned before even though I’m slightly terrified of this 1kg weight gain meaning ALL of my new clothes will be tight, they actually all still fit fine. It may be that this is my maintenance dose. I think I was hoping to go all the way down to 1.25mg but 22 clicks is around 1.8mg which is not bad going.

I’ve lost the anti-inflammatory effects at this low dose, so things like waking up with achy hands and feet are back. TMI and slightly unpleasant, have had a mouth ulcer and a fungal infection on the toes this last month (in brand new shoes) - prob due to work stress but also, I think immune system is struggling to keep my extremities in check! I don’t think the sugar and carbs are helping either. But on the whole, my anxiety is still curbed and I have more energy and motivation to exercise and get through my to do list. I’ve got a very busy couple of work months coming up so I’m very much looking forward to the two week Cornish staycation we’ve booked in August - but already wishing we’d booked somewhere with a private pool like last year’s amazing find.

It’s May so this month last year was the month I hit my original goal weight of 62.4kg. I continued to lose over June, July & August and remember freaking out at going below 60kg, then below 59, then below 58. But I’m feeling stronger, lighter, and more myself now.

Still menu planning and still eating a majority of home cooked meals. My caffeine intake is out of control, so I may need extra willpower to manage that one as the higher MJ dose kept that in check for me.

Polkadotdash · 03/05/2026 11:19

The ulcer/stress thing doesn’t sound great @DGmaintaining But that’s fantastic news that you have maintained (and improved on) your target weight for a year. Amazing.

I’ve bitten the bullet and ordered the 10mg pen today. Managed to find one with yet another new provider for £215 which I thought was quite a good price. Weighed this morning and lost pound was back and brought two mates with it. I thought I’d been doing really well on one meal a day this week too. Bollocks. Praying to the god of 10mg to shift at least a stone before summer starts in earnest. 😭

HeidiLite · 03/05/2026 11:43

@DGmaintaining my original dream, 'no way will I get there' goal weight was also 62 kilos. That was the lowest weight I managed to achieve in my late 20 when for about a year or so, I was actually happy and liked how I looked. And true, would not have gotten there without MJ.

Morning spent watching basketball again (DS's team won so they are now in departmental semi-finals), now off to gym and DH threatened me with a run in the afternoon.

OP posts:
Jins · 04/05/2026 09:26

Hope the 10mg works for you @Polkadotdash.

I’ve just ordered my next pen and it’s a 7.5mg this time. I used what was left in the last pen on Saturday which was around 4mg and it’ll be interesting to see how I do on that as my lowest dose for months has been 5mg with the odd 6.6 here and there. Very interesting to hear that the anti inflammatory effects diminished for you @DGmaintaining as my main driver for staying on MJ is the benefit of its impact on my IBS.

Tbh I’m feeling a bit lazy about maintaining as I’m letting MJ do all the heavy lifting at this point and as I’m staying on it for IBS related reasons I’m making little to no effort to reverse diet. I’m enjoying the freedom from food issues though so that’s a plus.

myladyjane · 04/05/2026 09:49

@Polkadotdash fingers crossed for the 10.

so I had a disaster on Saturday when doing my jab. It was late and I’m keeping it in the fridge in the garage now I’m spacing doses but all my stuff is upstairs. I had a full house of teens and they still done know. It was late, I was stressed. I tried to do it sneakily in the garage in a rush and it all went wrong! My pen jammed, my click counting went awry. I had to go back up to get a change in needle then that did work, then up again, all the time trying to make excuses why I was prowling around at gone midnight. Managed to jam the pen and also stabbed myself in the hand by accident. Have no idea how many actual clicks I ended up on as kept twisting it. Am amazed I’m not dead frankly.

added to that I have a stinking cold (my first since October so i’ll take it) and my constipation is back. No idea why as no noticeable change in diet I can pin point. Possibly hrt related as my poo has always been impacted by hormones and it’s been a bit wobbly.

weighed in today and it was very weird - 3lb down on last week. I am not sure it’s an actual keeper of a reading so I will try again tomorrow

hope lots of lovely bank holiday plans afoot - I am taking my cold to see the devil wears Prada….
