BMI under 27 - Off Label/less to lose

ritala · 29/03/2026 12:17

I am mid 40’s and just can’t lose the weight like I used to. I’m fed up of losing and gaming the same two pounds. I’m about a stone and a half more than my happy weight (where I would be approx bmi 23).

I have tried to find a thread for people who have been approved ‘off label’ Wegovy or Mounjaro with less to lose but couldn’t find one, so thought I’d start here. I have a BMI higher than 25 but less than 27 with a couple extra health conditions. Hoping to start after Easter. I’d like to stay with a very low dose if possible. Half a pound a week loss would be good for me. I really want to avoided side effects.

Anyone who is in a similar boat and wants to share experiences or ask questions, please join! X

Wegovy price comparison site here for anyone switching. Voy aren't terrible tbh but you could switch every month to keep it around £80

igovy.co.uk/wegovy-price-comparison-uk/

With the kind of BMI numbers on this thread, is it easy to switch companies once you have a prescription, without going through all the onboarding evidence checks?
I'm thinking that if I have lost weight in the first month and have a lower BMI, it will be even harder to get another company to prescribe? Do they just accept your previous prescription as 'proof' and continue with that?

Someone up thread (sorry crap with names, maybe page 11) said she changed and they just wanted proof of current bmi and previous prescription, don't ask what weight you started at.

I went for Wegovy with Voy. No real idea why in the end just couldn’t bear to think about it any longer! They rejected my first photo (jeans and a t-shirt) but approved me with the second in sports bra and leggings! No video call. If I get it by Thursday really hope I can psyche myself up to inject on Thursday evening and take it from there! Thanks for the videos!

Glad you are feeling a bit better @ritala. I feel a bit more suppression after my second dose yesterday I think, but it is still only really not feeling hungry rather than feeling like I can't eat at all. For example today I had a pretty light lunch and three hours later I was still feeling full, which is unusual for me. Maybe that's enough, if you feel better and just aren't very hungry?

Thanks for this @aquitodavia- I was thinking about what you said last night.

I think how you are feeling is how I felt yesterday. Not hungry but not at the stage of ‘I definitely can’t eat that’, which is where I was last week. I can see how that feeling could be additive, like we don’t trust ourselves to ‘choose’ not to eat and instead have to be in a place where we ‘cannot’ eat. Maybe it is enough to just not be hungry?

I’m doing 0.375 wegovy and noticed the day before jabbing im having a bit of a blow out binge of snacks, and its ruining my progress. Im up and down with exercise - im way more exhausted than i was off the jabs so i have no energy to work out like I was before

hellobaby24 · 21/04/2026 08:32

Thanks @ritala for the video that was really helpful. I did the jab and it was pretty easy. But then I couldn’t sleep all night as I was worrying how I’m going to feel.

School run done just about to have some breakfast. Don’t feel massively hungry but still want to eat so let’s see how today goes.

Did you all get suppression from your first jab or did it take a while?

Yes. I switched yesterday with a healthy BMI. Just had the delivery notification that the pen is coming today! I had to give a picture of my last box, some ID and a video showing my body and my figure on the scales. It’s seen as a continuation of prescription rather than new so you don’t need a consultation. They didn’t ask anything about how long I’ve been on it or what I originally weighed.

Remember it doesn’t peak until around day 2-3 so it’s normal to feel normal in the first 24 hours. My journey has been a bit over the place, some weeks the suppression was very mild or subtle, other times it was much higher with side effects. I think where I am in my cycle has a big impact, not something people seem to discuss very much, but while the suppression and SEs reduce over time, it hasn’t been linear for me.

kljdhs877 · 21/04/2026 08:38

NinthBestOption · 20/04/2026 21:14

I'm a bit worried about whether it'll work tbh. I don't eat because I'm hungry, I fast and am used to ignoring hunger anyway. I eat because I'm happy/sad/bored/stressed/tired etc, etc. So if it just makes me feel full it won't work, my job is so stressful.

However I think I'm also very susceptible to placebo effects, and what could be stronger than actually injecting a drug?

Ah well, we shall see. I don't know what I'll do if it doesn't work.

Honestly I think these kind of habits are some of the best dealt with by MJ. They’re looking into how WLI can help with addictions and ADHD because of the way they deal with dopamine seeking behaviour. I still seek reward, but much less so, I’m drinking much less and I’m definitely not eating out of boredom anywhere near as much. It’s so odd, that feeling of not being hungry is almost subconscious and food just doesn’t come to the front of my mind as much as it would. Though I still enjoy some treats.

I guess it comes down to whether you are still losing weight, perhaps you could give it a week and see?

I know that my parent lost approx 1.5 stone in three months or so and they did not feel like they couldn't eat, just less hungry.

RubyTraybake · 21/04/2026 10:08

I think that not feeling hungry is the aim so then you can make good choices, if you are getting suppression that means you can’t eat then you are relying on the drug to force you to eat less.
i would agree that the injections help with the eating for emotional reasons as I didn’t get the same joy from food/drink any more. That’s one of the reasons I took a break as food is a big part of my life and it was a bit depressing to not look forward to food or enjoy it as much.
People talk about the injections being the easy way out or ‘cheating’ but in my experience you are swapping hunger for other side effects but hunger and thinking constantly about food is such a massive thing that it is worth it but I wouldn’t say it is easy for me.
This all sounds really negative and is not meant to be, I would still recommend them!

Hi everyone hope you’re all doing great today. Update did my 2nd jab of MJ 2.5 yesterday my heart rate is slightly elevated same as 1st day last week but no nausea yet. I lost 1.5kg last week after the scales haven’t moved at all with significant effort on my part since Jan! I totally get the “I get hungry & can still eat” but the want to eat is very quiet, it’s a hard to describe feeling 😄 I have not snacked at all which I think is was my huge downfall, felt like I was doing everything else right but couldn’t step away from the treats mid afternoon & with a bmr of 1300 didn’t take much to cancel out the good habits.

20/4 66.5kg

SandwichesAndGingerBeer · 21/04/2026 12:12

@Pinkslip12 great work 🙌🏻. I would be over the moon with 1.5kg in week 1!

NinthBestOption · 21/04/2026 12:23

@Pinkslip12 thanks for your experiences, you're doing great.

Can anyone tell me whether you have to be in to recieve the pen? I'm away with work so arranged for it to be delivered Thursday when I'm back, now I need to stay longer. I'll be home Thursday night so if they leave it I'll be fine.

RockChik · 21/04/2026 13:54

An update from me… so I did my microdose on Saturday because last week I had such a strong reaction to Wegovy (could barely eat on two days and barely slept as well). I did a 1/4 of the usual starter dose. My sleep has been good, touch wood, but the food suppression has definitely reduced. I am toying with the idea of injecting again either tomorrow or Weds (same amount) and then do 1/2 of the starter dose next time 😬 very unsure.

The Shotsy app says I only have 0.15 in me and honestly today I didn’t really feel any food suppression. I will say that I didn’t feel hungry at all today. It seems to be working but obviously not as much as last week when I had 0.25.

The way you’re feeling now is really how the drug’s supposed to work. Feeling suppression to the extent that you’re having to force yourself to eat is not ideal, nor healthy. I had such strong suppression a couple of weeks ago that I delayed jabbing again by an extra two days (so nine days later) and have felt much better this last week, as in I’ve eaten normally but have gotten full quicker than pre MJ and haven’t felt the urge to snack, and have still lost weight. This is much more sustainable than full on suppression and feeling 🤢

The pen needs to be kept below 8°, which is why it’s shipped with ice packs. If it’s delivered in the morning it should be fine for a few hours out of the fridge, but if your provider sends it other than the day before it will just be sat in the delivery company’s depot unrefrigerated, hence breaking the cold chain.

kljdhs877 · 21/04/2026 14:01

If you’re using the pen up within a month the fridge thing is less of an issue. That’s how people take them on holiday.

True. I use mine beyond 30 days so I guess I was looking at it from my perspective!

kljdhs877 · 21/04/2026 14:45

@RockChik I need to take mine on holiday and likely will need to count clicks as I don’t think I will want to do 5mg on holiday. If I’ve kept it in the fridge I wonder if the 30 day timer would start from the point I take it on holiday? (Wondering whether to start my new pen tomorrow and take my half used pen on holiday instead).

NinthBestOption · 21/04/2026 14:56

I've just been reading the knowledge bits on the app, I had no idea it didn't need to be kept in the fridge!

It says must be used within 6 weeks of first use if fridge stored or delivery if not fridge.

NinthBestOption · 21/04/2026 14:59

Is it a long holiday {mention:kljdhs877}@kljdhs877? I was thinking I'll just delay my dose when I go away if it'll only be a few days late.

kljdhs877 · 21/04/2026 15:52

@NinthBestOption it’s 2 weeks, I was originally planning on taking a break for it, but it massively helps my IBS so I want to take the pen but I’m I undecided on dose yet. I’d like to enjoy my drink and food!
