To Bundle or not?

I've just coming to the end of my first month on 2.5, and I've lost weight well. I'm looking at ordering my next pen and I can order the following options

  1. a single 5mg for £155
  2. a 5mg and 7.5 mg for £355
  3. 3 x 5mg pens for £465

I'm unsure which to go for. The bundles work out better value, but will I want to go to 7.5mg after 5mg? Worried I'll order the 2 pen bundle and not want to move up, or order the 3 pen bundle and want to move up!

What would you do?

#3 isn't a saving. It's the price of 3 individual lots of #1 so I wouldn't go for that one. Is #2 definitely a saving? How much is the 7.5?
You can compare prices of other providers here:

Emas82 · 26/03/2026 09:34

Also you don't need to move up to 5mg straight away if you are losing on 2.5mg

CoatiCutie · 26/03/2026 09:36

True it's no a saving on the single pen if it was that price each month, but it's a promotional rate, so would be cheaper than a price increase (it would also be the older pen style, so with the golden dose, before the pen style changes)

I spent 3 months on 5mg so purely based on my own experience I'd go for option three. However if you went for option 2 and you didn't want to move up you could just count clicks and get 6 x 5mg doses out of the 7.5. As long as you're ok with stretching the pen slightly beyond 30 days (which loads of people do but it's a personal thing).

Also you don't know how going up to 5mg will be and you might end up wanting to count clicks and choose a dose in between 2.5 and 5 if the SE's hit a bit hard. In which case option 3 is the winner again.

CoatiCutie · 26/03/2026 09:41

Thank you - that's what I'm leaning towards, I like the security of 3 months of the old pen, and am happy to stretch if needed.

I have adhd and find looking for the best deal each month overwhelming!

I would suggest following suggested guidlines unless/until you have an issue, deviating often is done for no real reason and in the long term it will save you money as the amount of weight you loose goes up by dosage.
as your still in tritration i would caution about taking any bundle as you dont know how you will feel taking the next dose, and 5 is the first full dose. I brought 2.5 and 5 before i started, luckily was fine with both. i struggled a bit with 7.5 so stayed on for 2 months, but then ordered the 10 for next month which am hoping is easier that 7.5. If 10 is good i might stay on a bit longer as i inittially had too much suppression on the first round of 7.5 and wasnt eating.
until your comfortable on the full dose i wouldnt buy a bundle

HappyWineDay · 26/03/2026 11:13

I would say don't move up a dose until you are no longer losing weight with the dose you're on. There's absolutely no need to.

Theverylastone · 26/03/2026 11:38

@Tammy214. "... in the long term it will save you money as the amount of weight you loose goes up by dosage."

You need to eat in a deficit to lose weight. It's not the dose itself that determines how much weight you lose.

Theverylastone · 26/03/2026 11:40

I would buy option two which will work out cheaper per dose. You can take 2.5 or 5 mg out of both pens using clicks.

WeAllHaveWings · 26/03/2026 11:58

I would order a single 5mg. This allows you to stick at either 2.5mg or move up if needed mid month.

I have been on Mounjaro for 20 months and never went above 3.75mg. Don't think too far ahead.

There is absolutely no need to increase doses unless you are struggling to keep to your calorie deficit, many people in real life, outside of clinical trials, successfully lose significant weight on lower doses. Most patient led pharmacies will encourage you to stay low if it is working for you.

Scarabhead · 26/03/2026 12:47

Even if you don't need a higher dose, as in you feel fine on your present dose and are losing at the pace you want always buy the higher dose as you can count clicks, buying bundles worked out great for me as I lost all my weight on lower doses, but I stretched the pens out which meant I only needed a few pens to lose it all, and I didn't have to keep pissing about ordering and weighing /photographing etc. I stuck to my own schedule, I always used the golden dose so pens lasted ages and I always had a stash in the fridge so I didn't have to worry, I bought them three at a time, in the highest doses they would let me.
Have a likk around at other pharmacies, they do bundles too and may be cheaper.
Now maintenance.... That's a whole different tricky thing, good luck.

MoneyJo · 26/03/2026 12:59

Where are you buying from, @CoatiCutie I am wondering about a bundle now that you've mentioned it avoiding price rises.

i am not stupid i can read medical journals, papers , research etc . i am assuming that the person who decides to take these is using it as a support to the rest of their weight loss (not the only thing).

RoseField1 · 26/03/2026 16:31

Are you losing weight on 2.5?
I would buy one 5mg. You can move to 5mg if you need to, or stay at 2.5 and make the pen last a bit longer. No point buying another 2.5 IMO and buying 3 5s is silly in case you want to move up to 7.5 then you have to use the pens to 1.5 or 2 x dose which is more expensive than buying a 7.5mg or 10mg pen.

CoatiCutie · 27/03/2026 15:47

For everyone asking, pharmacy planet is where I'm looking at the bundles

I stayed on 2.5mg for over a year, just slowly moving up to 5mg now. Bundles would be wasted on me.

Scarabhead · 27/03/2026 16:42

@madcatters but you can take 2.5 from the higher dose and make a pen last ages and keep a stash in the fridge so you don't have to keep reordering, I only used six pens to lose 5 and a half stones plus into maintenance, I've only just started ordering again, after more than a a year, I order large doses and take a small one to ward off inflammation.

How do you order large doses?

WhoInvitedHer · 27/03/2026 19:40

I’m on Wegovy and only on my second pen and haven’t counted clicks so far. I am interested in click counting for financial reasons once I can order bigger doses than potentially I need but am unclear what you do about needles. Do you leave the needle in and use it two weeks running? If so do you wipe the needle with anything to prevent infections?

SilenceInside · 27/03/2026 19:56

@WhoInvitedHer no, you must use a new needle each time and they must not be left on the pen. They are single use. You should get one or two spare with each pen, in case of faulty needles but many pharmacies skimp on that. You can buy a box of 100 extra needles from online pharmacies like these ones:
