Restarting Mounjaro after a break at 1.25mg: results and hair loss?

Hi!

From this giant pool of experience on here- has anyone re-started Mounjaro (after a break) on a 1.25 mg dose and
had (positive) results starting/ re-starting so low ? As in decent steady weightloss / less joint pain/ more energy etc ?

I took Mounjaro for 7 months from Feb last year, kept the dose low 2.5-3.75 mg throughout this period and was very happy with losing an average of 1.5lbs a week.
I’m 59 and felt fantastic on it. No side effects for 5 months just felt 2 years younger all over!

Hair-loss caused me to stop taking it. I tried half doses and less for a further 2 months but still continued to lose lots of my hair and it terrified me. My scalp was all creepy, itchy, sore and felt sunburned. I couldn’t see an end to the shedding so I stopped MJ in September. (7 months of it coming out it’s finally stopped and there are finally some baby hairs appearing ).
I’m feeling ugly. And fat and it’s my 60 th birthday coming up in 10 weeks so am wondering whether to try again but on a lower dose.
I managed to maintain my weight easily for the first 3 months eating g well and exercising as I’d done all my life but I’ve since gained over a stone (1/3 of my overall loss ) in 3 months now.

Has anyone started / re- started on 1.25 mg and found it still does the trick?
Any hairloss happened second time around ?

I think they are kidding us ( no, lying to us…) by saying 3-5 % of users may experience hair-loss. I think it’s much more ( as confirmed by my hairdresser) . She’s only had one client on it ( out of about 50 that have told her they are taking WLIs ) who hasn’t experienced hair loss .
Any advice or experiences greatly appreciated , good or bad, so I can decided what to do next .

Thanks in advance

🌷

Some people experience hair loss due to taking MJ but equally, anyone that eats a restrictive diet without a good range of nutrients will also suffer hair loss too. Some (bonkers) people combine MJ with a very low calorie diet, so it’s no surprise they have serious hair loss (and muscle wastage!).

I’ve been on MJ for about 8 months and not suffered from excess hair loss, although I’m only losing an average of 1.5lb a week and being careful to eat a balanced diet.

Presumably the majority of people who experience excess hair loss on MJ revert back to their normal hair growth cycle after they come off it so I wouldn’t be too concerned about temporary hair loss.

Hi, the hair loss is actually called telogen effluvian and it’s really common. Basically you lose hair after a shock to your body. That could be stress, hormones, taking medication etc and that’s what causes a big shed and then regrowth. Some of us are more susceptible than others.

Not sure if this would effect you second time round but I guess it’s a potential weigh up for you of weight loss vs having lovely hair. Good luck OP, I hope you go into your 50s feeling fab!

Noone can say how it will affect you so you need to decide if the weight loss is worth losing lots of hair.
I loved my long hair but hated being fat so for me it was worth it, albeit hard to cope with
