WLI when taking pain medication & no gallbladder

I have to take pain meds throughout the day, I really want to try WLI. I have put a lot of weight on because I can’t move around much and can’t cook anymore so my diet has suffered, too many snacks, bread etc
Im worried about side effects of sickness cos of my meds, if im sick I cant take more and would be in a lot of pain, if it went on for a week I could potentially end up with withdrawal.
Im considering asked GP for anti sickness tablets before I start.
I already have constipation from meds so dont know how that might be.
I also have no gallbladder which I think can cause problems.
Anyone have any experience of WLI with pain meds or no gallbladder?
Ive never been this size before and i hate it!

I have no gall bladder and haven't had any problems on MJ.
I was also on pain meds for muscle aches but this cleared up in week 1, which was a bit of a surprise.
I've had no sickness but I'm still on 2.5.

Severe vomiting to the extent you're talking about is actually pretty rare on MJ. What I would definitely look into/ask your GP* about is how delayed gastric emptying might affect pill absorption. In the same way it can mess with oral HRT.

*I say this with caution because sadly from people's experience on here a lot of GPs are uninformed and/or biased about WLIs and also won't advise about things they can't prescribe.

Perhaps another option is to go to a local independent pharmacy to get it instead of online so you can have a face to face appointment and conversation.

Having no gallbladder isn't a problem for me. I've been on mj for more than a year now. My surgeon said that it might not work as well as having no gallbladder can speed up the digestion process so I might see less 'slowing down' on mj. It doesn't seem to have been a problem for me.
I don't remember reading any issue with pain meds. I do take quite a lot of meds for my asthma which don't interfere at all. I've had mild side effects on and off but nothing to put me off taking mj.
I would try it and see. That's really the only way to know for sure.

Another one with no gallbladder here and it’s caused me no problems. And I take all sorts of meds and it’s been fine. Never been sick.

I am constipated though but it’s manageable.

I was allowed to stay on MJ while taking Codein for a shoulder fracture. I’m now on paracetamol and still are allowed to take the jabs.

Constipation is my biggest issues, in general I suffer so I really have to be very careful and I normally have to take at least once a week something to get full movement going.

I will definitely speak to your GP first, depending where you get your prescription from, they may require additional information or a doctor letter.

I have no gallbladder and haven't had any problems on MJ. I have been taking it since Oct 2024 and in that time I have never vomited although I have experienced nausea especially in the early months. Now it's only occasionally if I over eat.

Edited to add, I have been prescribed codeine while on it for shoulder pain although I only take it intermittently and when I really need to as it causes consitipation for me.
