Bruising/dark marks after injecting

I am on mounjaro and every time I inject I get an itchy reaction, which lasts at least a week and usually more, so I can end up with two itchy places at once, which is very annoying. However, once they stop itching they go dark and the dark patches last several months. My belly is now a patchwork of dark patches - it makes it easy to see and avoid places I have recently injected, but it is most unsightly! (as is my belly).

Does this happen to anyone else!

I had the itchy injection site reactions that lasted 2-3 weeks each, but no dark patches that lasted longer.

For me, after about 5-6 weeks, I realised the reaction coincided with when I changed provider to one that used BD Viva pen needles. I had some spare needles from a previous provider and when I tried those and had no problems so bought a box of those needles and I've never had a problem since.

I think I was reacting to the BD lubricant on the BD Viva needles.

I have seen others say they have had success reducing reactions by using a slightly longer needle (6mm or 8mm), taking the pen out the fridge for 30 minutes before injecting so it is not as cold or using an antihistamine cream - none of those worked for me, but worth a try.

I often had an itchy patch after injecting but it didn’t turn dark or last beyond a week. I used hydrocortisone cream to ease the itch. What I’ve found is, if when I use the wipes to clean my skin and the end of the pen, I leave it a few minutes before injecting, I no longer have this issue. So for me I feel it was related to injecting before the alcohol from the wipe had dried.

For me it happened weekly until I let the pen warm up from the fridge before injecting, never happened again and I'm 17 months in
