Sulphur burps

I have the worst sulphur burps all of the time on the mounjaro jabs, does anyone have any tips on how to combat this?

I’ve been on it for 10 months now, I’m up to 7.5mg, I’ve lost 2.5 stone, but still have more to lose so don’t want to stop, but the burps are absolutely bloody awful!

I believe the general consensus is to try Pepto Bismol.

PurpleSky300 · 15/03/2026 21:47

Pepto is the answer. More space / time between meals also works for me.

TheChosenTwo · 15/03/2026 21:48

I’ve only had them a couple of times in a year and a half, I think both times after a spell of constipation and shortly before a bout of action in the toilet department!
Never really suffered enough to need to find a cure but as a pp says some people find PB helpful.

Love Hearts! Sounds mad, but genuinely work.

Ooo really? I absolutely love chalky sweets like Love Hearts and Refreshers, I need to try this!

It passes, at least it did for me. I haven't had sulphur burps for over a year.

Seriously! I saw it on an Instagram post and raided the kid's Halloween stash...something about having the same ingredients as Rennie's? Hope they help!

I’ve never had the sulphur burps but I do get a bit burpy if I’m dehydrated. I also take a peppermint oil capsule each morning and have done since starting on the jabs; this might be helping.

GiveMeWordGames · 16/03/2026 08:58

Definitely pepto bismol but also look at how much you're eating and when. I only had a few bad instances of the burps in the early days and it was usually when I'd eaten too late/too soon before going to bed. A few specific things set them off too, like caramelised onions, but mealtime and quantity were the bigger factors.

PearlsTeapot · 16/03/2026 19:44

I’ve had them a few times and they’re disgusting. The only thing that helped is Pepto.

DrWu · 16/03/2026 23:13

Thank you everyone! I’ve had them pretty much constantly, nearly every day since starting the jabs. They are disgusting, but I’ve sort of put up with them as they are the only bad side effect I’ve had, but I’m due to start a new job soon & really don’t want this to embarrass me in front of new colleagues.

I’ve bought pepto bismol, rennies & love hearts, I will try anything & everything to fix this.

My only worry is the pepto says to only use it for two days at a time & with the amount of consecutive days I use these awful burps, I’m not sure how to work that, so if any of you wonderful wise ladies have any tips or ideas for that, I’d very much like to hear them.
thank you everyone

Digestive enzymes fixed this for me.

FairyBatman · 16/03/2026 23:36

Honestly the only thing that fixed this for me was eating less. Peppermint tea made them smell less vile but eating less was the actual fix.

Because the jabs have lowered my appetite, I’m not actually eating very much at all, so it’s not the amount I’m eating, it’s also not what I’m eating as it makes no difference what I eat, I just always have them.

I understand and I too was eating very little but reducing it further fixed the problem. I ended up reducing my dose because I was barely eating.
