We have all been on for heading up to 20mths now- we gathered our courage and started what would be a memorable journey for us all - made some hopefully forever friends

Gather round my little auggies 😍 and we are all doing amazingly so be proud of yourselves

The amount of weight per person lost varies from 1-2stone - 3-4 - 5-6 - 7+
in a year

We are amazing !!!

All of us have totally changed our body shape - reduced our bmi and weight and hopefully improved our health
most of us are at goal - and working out how to maintain - some nearing it

And some still have weight they want to lose

We are still here cheering you on till you get to your happy weight so please do carry on posting

Some have stopped for cost - esp after the aug announcements - still so thankful we started it when we did
Imagine Aug 25 and being told 2/3w later prices were increasing lots

I def couldn’t have managed a year of mj at new sept prices esp as doses didn’t really effect me even 15 !

ALL of us have lost weight and I love the fact we are all so supportive to each other over weight and our general day to day lives

This next year will almost be harder.
To keep the weight off Esp if reducing dose or off completely - and we are finding it def harder to keep weight off with lower doses

only 2 words to say 😂😂

Ive barely lost anything since christmas. I buy 15 pens then eke them out taking between 10 and 12.5 a week depending om how i feel. Mote than 12.5 is too much. My gut just stops moving, wipes me out and gives ne headaches and stomach ache. I am having an unofficial break over the easter holidays and having a reset-low carbs and plenty of walking and resistance weight. Scales slightly shifting again 🙂 Whem motivation starts to wane I will start again on about 7mg or so. Hope it works! Lost 6st to date and need to lose another 3 to get in healthy range

Edited

Hey, wow 6st is amazing! I hear you re the carb reset. It was my downfall when I came off MJ last June. Back on it now x

NippyNinjaCrab · 02/04/2026 15:39

@Blondeshavemorefun mine has switched off again thank god! I knew when I was off it and eating it wasn't good but I literally couldn't stop it, the sandwiches, the puddings, steak pies and pastry lol. Fuck me it's hard going. Xxx

Hopefully this article might help people understand what’s going on in their brain when they’re craving something.

Snacking, particularly on sugary, fatty, or highly palatable foods,
triggers a rapid release of dopamine in the brain’s reward system. This "dopamine hit" creates a pleasurable, addictive cycle, often leading to eating for pleasure rather than hunger, which can desensitize the brain’s reward circuits over time.
Within Health +4
The Science of Dopamine and Snacking

  • Instant Reward System: Palatable foods (sugar, salt, fat) act on the brain's reward system, particularly the nucleus accumbens, releasing dopamine, which functions as a "feel-good" neurotransmitter.
  • "Dopamine Hit" Cycle: Every bite of a pleasant snack releases dopamine, reinforcing the desire for more, causing cravings and, sometimes, binge-eating behavior.
  • Engineering Cravings: Many processed snacks are engineered specifically to cause this rapid dopamine rush, which can make it hard to stop eating.
  • Long-Term Impact: Frequent, high-intensity dopamine spikes from constant snacking can cause a decrease in dopamine receptors, leading to higher consumption to achieve the same "high".
  • Within Health +5
Common Dopamine-Triggering Foods
  • Sugar and Sweets: Cakes, candies, and cookies provide quick dopamine hits.
  • Fast Food/High Fat: Fat triggers a two-part dopamine boost, first on the tongue, then again as it is digested.
  • Salty Snacks: Chips and processed foods.
  • Within Health +4
How to Manage the Dopamine Cycle
  • Switch to Nutritious Foods: Foods like chicken, almonds, bananas, avocados, eggs, and leafy greens support healthy dopamine levels.
  • Protein-Packed Breakfasts: Starting the day with protein (e.g., eggs, yogurt) can reduce mid-morning, high-fat, or high-sugar cravings by supporting sustained neurotransmitter production.
  • Break the Habit Loop: It is possible to reduce cravings by consciously cutting out ultra-processed foods for a period (e.g., two weeks) to reset, as mentioned on Dr. Mindy Pelz's Instagram post.
  • Reduce Emotional Eating: Identifying stress or boredom, rather than actual hunger, as the trigger for eating is crucial

Dr. Mindy Pelz on Instagram: "Ever wonder why you can’t stop eating chips, crackers, or sweets, even when you’re full? They’re chemically sprayed to give you a dopamine hit. Not your fault. It’s brain science. But here’s the fix: ✅ Cut ultra-process...

I can't bear to hear the phrase: "everyone just piles the weight back on"!! We are small in number, but proof that we are still striving to maintain our weights and/or get back to them.

This guy has a lot of practical advice on tapering down or off WLI and not regaining. It’s not magic wand stuff as we know that doesn’t exist but it’s helpful and worth even a bit of effort or mindfulness

His name on Insta is drjones_dc

Eli Lilly’s weight loss pill is approved in the US and will go on sale next week. I hope they are going to apply for UK approval as I would like to switch to a tablet for maintenance.

@Azuresky68 Thank you. The last link I posted, the reels are on quite a fast speed to I take screen shots as I’m going through them and read from those.

NippyNinjaCrab · 03/04/2026 09:38

Thanks for that @Jellybelly80 I will look him up. @Azuresky68 i watched that, it was okay but not anything we all don't do or are aware of. I'm going to have a start on the book that was recommended and see if I can get some enlightenment from it.

Azuresky68 · 03/04/2026 09:43

Morning! Very happy now. Weighed today April 2nd 2026
It's taken 5 weeks to go from 122.5 to 119 = 3.5 pounds so an average los of .7 pounds and that's on 10 mg. 2 pounds to get back to my preferred weight of 117 (8 stone 5 pounds) Average calories 1250 a day. Only 1 day on alcohol. As we know it's normal for weight to fluctuate daily by about 3 pounds so the top of my comfort zone is 120 pounds (8 stone 8 pounds) BUT I don't want to stay on 10 forever due to the cost 😱

Hi again @Jellybelly80 I was wondwring where I can find this article as i wanted to sebd to a friend who isn't in Mumsnet. I can't find a way to copy and paste your text. Thanks again ...the Science of Dopamine really is relevant to me !

That’s what I’m trying to do on the way back down. Build habits and get used to the food noise and cravings. If I can’t hack it I’ll go back up a bit and try again. I can’t see me ever coming off, but I’d like to be on the minimum.

im interested by people talking about having more energy when they come off; im hoping its anecdotal as it feels a bit tempting to have the potential of feeling less knackered

Jellybelly80 · 03/04/2026 11:13

hello, just came back to say that

I don’t follow many of these influencer people, just a few style ladies and a couple of WLI people but I like the approach from that last link and when I’m craving something I like to remind myself how my body is working or what’s influencing me/driving me at that particular moment and it really helps with telling myself no.

And there’s another thing I do, I have a picture of two rainbows in my mind. One is a small rainbow representing the pleasure I’d get from an Easter egg or couple of glasses of wine and the other is a big rainbow representing a healthy and happy old age with my loved ones along with plenty of travelling. The big rainbow would give me the greatest pleasure so I picture that in my mind because it far outweighs the pleasure of the 5 minutes it takes to eat something that I’d definitely regret eating even before I’d finish eating it.

The rainbow thing may sound daft but it was a world champion free diver who told me how to do it one day at the gym when he was asking about my weight loss journey. He said he often has choices to make, even about going to training some days, but his sports psychologist suggested the small pleasure and big pleasure approach to him and he thought it might help me as well.

Regards.

it was what came up first when I did a google search. It’s from chatGPT so even though there were loads of articles after it I just chose that one as it’s what I was looking for. I’ll search my history and get a link for you. The dopamine makes sense to me because I was at an ADHD conference recently and there was so much said about the ‘dopamine hit’ that even pertained to those who weren’t ND. It was quite staggering.

FurForksSake · 03/04/2026 11:21

I love the two rainbows, I absolutely love it. I’m still eating an Easter egg though.

SilverSprings510 · 03/04/2026 13:23

Scales showing a slight gain for me this week, but I’m due on so attributing it to that, plus a 6mile walk yesterday as calorie wise there’s just no way I’ve gained! Will definitely keep an eye on it though as I’ve had my last dose now so want to keep losing.
