Monj.co.uk update on pen size

Monj has posted an update from Eli Lilley that's been sent direct to pharmacies, that the new pen with no 5th dose will be rolled out from April. It says that there will be a crossover period while stocks are run down, but the golden dose will soon be gone. Sad days!

Anyone else noticed the prices have gone up a decent chunk (or rather the discounts available have dropped) lately too?

Yes on the prices front. I could get a 5mg pen in Jan for between £125 and £135 and the cheapest now was £140. GetADrip sent out the message about the pens last night.

Thelankyone · 06/03/2026 08:06

Yes I expected that as they are all selling off old pens with shorter expiry dates

Discounts are dropping because they know we all hop around the cheapest suppliers.

its a financial pain that it will now be 4 not 5 jabs per pen but we may see an increase in pharmacies offering off-label prescriptions which may help affordability in the future.

Eli Lily know we will continue to buy.

What are off label prescriptions?

I’m sad about the golden dose. It just makes it more expensive. But it was inevitable.

It's annoying. First the big price hike because of Trump, now this is effectively a price hike.

I've been working my way up to 15mg pens even though I am only currently taking 8.75mg, so that will reduce the price somewhat. Thankfully I only need to lose a couple of KG, and think I am slowly shifting out of my plateau so fingers crossed I can start titrating down. Feel sorry for the people with a long way to go and who decided to take higher doses. I dare say this will price some more people out of having it

What are off label prescriptions?

basically bending the rule ,A doctor/dentist/nurse prescriber etc will only prescribe off-label if they believe that the medication will be effective at treating the condition in question, and that the advantages outweigh any potential risks. However, the prescriber needs to let you know beforehand that the drug is being prescribed off-label. They should also tell you about any potential risks associated with this method of use. ‘

so prescribing MJ to those who don’t fit criteria, or letting you buy a larger pen knowing you take a lower dose etc
