Hi , I’m considering starting taking mounjaro after thinking about it for a year . I’m very nervous about the side effect especially as I’ve no gallbladder and apparently the side effects can be worse .
I work in a preschool and wouldn’t be able to run to a toilet if needed . If I took it on Friday would the side effects be gone by Monday or could they last longer . If so I’ll have to wait until Easter Holidays .

Noone can tell you what, if any side effects you may experience. I haven't had any.

The only way to find out really is to take it, and whilst you may get side effects you might find they are not actually that bad and you can live with them, or you might not get any at all.

Will you get prescribed it if you don’t have a gallbladder?

It doesn’t work like that - side effects, if you get any are not predictable in that way.

People seem utterly terrified by the possibility of an upset stomach. I get that some jobs are harder than others to manage if you feel unwell. I have been a teacher and managed through all kinds of things including pregnancies. There will be a procedure at work if you are suddenly taken unwell, and if there isn’t, there should be and that might be worth raising.

I didn’t get any side effects on 2.5mg for the first 4 weeks. I had a couple of days of stomach upset when moving up to 5mg and again to a lesser degree when moving up to 7.5mg, and then absolutely nothing since then. Neither time was it unmanageable, and you can of course take OTC treatments for nausea, diarrhoea etc.

I’ve had wind and a small amount of bloating. I feel like the days I eat less the better I feel

I’ve been taking it for 11 weeks with no side effects (20lb down so far) I’m so pleased I did it.
Everyone’s different though op, you won’t know until you give it a shot.

I’ve had minimal side effects (my gallbladder was removed years ago) but I managed my anxiety about vomiting by going up very slowly.

I felt the same before taking it.... but I only thought about it for a week

I had my gallbladder out in 2013, a year after losing 50lbs in 6 months - which was the cause of gallstones. I've not had any after effects due to the removal and have been able to eat fatty food/meat without any issues before and since taking Mounjaro.

Also, I haven't experienced a single side effect since being on Mounjaro for 5 months

Apart from constipation I have been fine..started in May last year and lost 15kgs.

It varies quite a lot for me - I get the sulphurous wind and burps - but some weeks no side effects at all
Sticking to 5mg mounjaro as losing steady and slow with only occasional minor side effects

I think you get a skewed idea of the prevalence of side effects from social (and some mainstream) media and this puts people off.

For every one person posting about having unpleasant side effects there will be ten people saying nothing because they haven’t had any.

I have had zero side effects and the four other people I know in real life have had nothing worse than mild constipation which was easily relieved with some lactulose and extra fibre.

The whole reason the dose starts so low is to get your body acclimatised slowly. Don’t expect suppression straight away. I felt like I might as well have been injecting water until I got to 7.5mg although some people feel a positive effect earlier.

The results are fabulous and a year on I have no regrets.
