I’ve an order of Wegovy on the way, mainly driven by price…. But the more I read the more I think I should switch to Mounjaro before I even start…. It’s mostly about the side effects although faster result are great…. I have a lot to lose and would need the jabs for a long while. Have I made an error I should fix before I start?

A lot of people lose weight very effectively on wegovy. And it's cheaper.
I'd give it a go and see if it works for you. If it doesn't, it's an easy switch to mj later but if it does work you'll save a lot of money and still lose weight.

More people report fewer side effects on mounjaro but it depends on the individuals. Some people will have fewer side effects on wegovy.

I lost four stone in 12 months with wegovy. Switched to mounjaro a year ago and have only lost a few pounds (although obviously have much less to lose now). I’m switching back to wegovy to try and lose a final 7 pounds and then maintain as it’s cheaper and worked well for me.

I’m in mounjaro but if I was starting now I’d try wegovy, see how I get on, it could work, and then it’s a win, if not then I’d change to mounjaro

I'm booked in for a consultation tomorrow.....wegovy is way cheaper but does it take longer? I was intending it to be a two month kick start and had dreams of losing two stones in that time....is that likely or am I living in cloud cuckoo land.....?

SilenceInside · 13/02/2026 21:15

@NeededANameChangeAnyway I think that’s fairly optimistic on either Mounjaro or Wegovy tbh. That would be an average of 3.5lbs each and every week from day 1, which is double the rate that you’d expect. And, if it is working for you, why would you decide to stop after 2 months?

I lose about 0.5- 1kg a week (so about 2lbs) on Wegovy without much effort. We had pizza last night and I managed 1 slice as I was stuffed. I 6 weeks I’ve lost 5.5 kg so in 2 months you could lose just over a stone

All depends on how much you have to lose though

NeededANameChangeAnyway · 13/02/2026 21:48

@SilenceInside because I'm skint! I'm hoping to create good habits and carry them on...

@meatbaseddessert id like to lose 3 stones but realistically have about 4 to lose to be at an NHS healthy weight.

SilenceInside · 13/02/2026 21:54

@NeededANameChangeAnyway fair enough, it wasn’t obvious from your post that finances were a constraint. I hope that 2 months will be long enough for you to embed good habits.

NeededANameChangeAnyway · 13/02/2026 22:45

@SilenceInside I hope so too.....I mean, it's never happened before but I can hope?!?!
