How long did it take to lose your belly fat. Ive gone from 19st 13 to 15st 8 in 9 months, lost inches everywhere else but my 'apron' is not much smaller although i seem to have list it some around the sides.

I can get into an 18 now, started at a 26. Still though i have this wodge of fat at my lower belly.

Is it possibly less "full" now? I feel like mine looks the same but actually feels like the fat is reducing but the skin remains similar. A lot of people end up having tummy ticks, but I reckon I'll just wear high-waisted things!

Congratulations on your loss! You must feel amazing dropping so many dress sizes 🥰

Mine went down gradually but only really disappeared once I started working out properly towards the end of my weight loss. My section apron has really reduced

I began at 19 stones and am now 12.5, like you I had a substantial stomach! It’s only the loss of the last stone which has made much difference as the previous poster says, less full now and I’m able to disguise it. I also do Pilates three times per week which probably helps. For reference I’m about a 16/14 and began as a 24/22.
Well done on your weight loss.

I'm currently 9st 1.5lbs a size 10 and bmi 22.8 and I still have some belly fat and i was always an apple shape and would get asked if i was pregnant pre-mj. I have found when I do body toning exercises it really helps also eating less carbs. I think it would go in the lower 20s bmi-wise.

I have gone from size 24 to size 14 and the belly still hangs as much as ever, it’s less full but it’s not any smaller iykwim. I’m hopeful as pp’s that i need to get to the last wee bit before it goes more!

A few things, your tummy has shrunk if you’ve went down 4 dress sizes, and I mean this gently are still either overweight or obese, unless very tall.

are you working out?doing strength training and eating your protein? If not you will lose a lot of muscle and not just fat.

Rainraingoawaydontcomeback · 13/02/2026 08:17

I’ve gone from 14 stone to 9 stone 2 and I still have an apron tummy with my c section over hang. All the fat which has gone recently has come off my boobs. I don’t plan on losing anymore weight.

Megsdaughter · 13/02/2026 08:50

@Frenchfrychic oh im still obese, i have another 4 stone to lose.
I just seem to have lost so much everywhere else.

I started at 16st, size 18 and am now just over 9st and a size 8. My belly was previously large and quite bloated looking - what I noticed when I started to lose weight was my love handles/hips, they slimmed down before I felt like my stomach got smaller. Now although my stomach is relatively flat, it’s still got a little overhang from pregnancy and the skin (which became stretchmarked badly during my second pregnancy) is really really crinkly and wrinkly.
fortunately it’s disguised in a high waisted bikini and other than on a beach I don’t get my stomach out so I’m not interested in a tummy tuck. I’ve strength trained and done various other exercises throughout but my stomach will never be ‘perfect’ even now that it’s pretty flat.
It was probably when I hit 12st that it felt like it had really shrunk in size.

I have to be honest, not until I reached a healthy weight. It was definitely the last place to improve. But on the positive side, I’ve gone from an absolute disaster area to a lovely flat tum. The loose skin is improving too. Weight training is essential imo, but I didn’t take this up until I lost the first 3 stone. I’ve now lost just under 5.5 stone.

Good luck - you’ve made a fantastic start!
