Help please, I'm on my fourth month, nearly 5th and will be going up to 10mg next week. Since I started I have lost half a stone. And I'm not sure the top end was that reliable anyway as I fluctuate so much.

My appetite is almost completely surpressed, I never fancy ANYTHING anymore. I don't eat a huge amount.

I do have a very stressful life with a terminally ill baby and I don't know if that is the reason but I just am desperate. Life is so unhappy and I've put on so much weight to boot.

I just want to feel a bit better about myself.

Anyone else experienced this at all, ready to tell me that 10mg is the key??

Doesn’t sound like it’s really working for you, unfortunately.

LilyLondon · 11/02/2026 09:24

I’m not on MJ myself, but in the relevant threads are several people who have only noticed the weight shifting significantly on 10mg or even 12.5mg

Daisywhatsyouranswer · 11/02/2026 09:24

Hey op, I’m so sorry about your baby and I’d say self care and love right now is key.

maybe your head isn’t in the right space, and that would be the same for most people in your shoes, in this situation, but you are consuming pretty much close to maintence, and to loose a pound a week you need to be 500 cals a day under . So to lose a pound a week I’d cut back 500 cals now.

but I’d also consider just not focusing on your weight right now.

I'm a bit confused about what you're asking. Is it why you have only lost half a stone in 4 months?

Clearly the mounjaro is working - you've just said that your appetite is completely supressed. This is what is supposed to happen - you don't need to move to 10mg if its doing what it needs to do. Its a waste of money to move to a higher dose.

Its not the jab that makes you lose weight - its your calorie intake.
Are you tracking what you're eating? You need to eat enough, you need to try and improve what you're eating, and you need to drink more water. If you aren't doing so - you need a calorie tracker - I used nutracheck but I pay for the upgraded version. myfitnesspal is free. Work out how many calories you need for you height and body to lose weight and stick to it. I try to eat more some days, and less other days, to balance it out over a week.

Are you getting enough sleep? That sounds like an insensitive question based on what you've said - but it can affect weight loss.

You have so much going on - I understand your desperation to lose weight - its a major thing to try to do with the other things going on in your life and it might not be the right time for you to do it. It does require some focus - you can't just assume you can inject and you will miraculously lose weight - you need to think about what you're doing. What the other poster said is correct - self care is needed here. If you aren't in the right headspace to focus on it then let it go x

It’s what you are eating. Download the Nutracheck app and log every single bite or drink that passes your lips.

You have an awful lot going so must be very hard to focus in diet etc.

It sounds like its working as you're appetite is suppressed but the only way you woll lose weight whatever dose you're on is by eating in a calorie deficit, and really eating a good balance within those calories. If you go onto a TDEE calculator website to work out your daily calories and then deduct 500-1000 cals that is 1-2lb a week (roughly).

reluctantbrit · 13/02/2026 10:04

I am so sorry to hear about your baby.

I think you may not eat enough. Stress is actually stopping weight loss as well.

You need to check your TDEE and deduct 500 cal. If you aren't hungry you may want to look for calorie rich food and nibble, shakes and smoothies to drink.

I am on 5mg and loose steadily but still eat 3 meals a day, for me it's the routine of shared meals which helps me eating.

That’s not how it works. If she was starving for calories she would lose weight faster. Starvation mode is misinterpreted nonsense.

You are living a parents worst nightmare, no wonder you are stressed.

Mounjaro, as you have found, does not perform magic. If you believe your appetite is suppressed but you are not losing you need to start measuring calories/macros/hydration - every single thing that you eat and drink - to find out what is going wrong. It is a process that needs managing not just increasing dose and it, understandably, doesn't sound like you have the space you need to do this just now.

Are you sure this is the right time for you when you have so much going on, or would it be a welcome distraction at times?

But it sounds as though she has strong suppression and no desire to eat - surely that is it working?

the mystery is why she’s not losing weight despite not eating.

Such a difficult time for you. I haven't started injections yet, due to start end of this week. I've been on diabetic meds that suppress my appetite for a while and haven't been losing. I know why though. I never really feel like eating a meal, I'm rarely hungry, so skip lunch and then find myself snacking on biscuits and other bad food choices. Could it be that you are doing that? It's understandable that you may not be focusing on eating a healthy balanced diet at the moment. When life is tough, it's much easier to open the snack cupboard, than the salad drawer. I don't eat a large quantity of food, just the wrong foods in small portions. Unfortunately that's enough to maintain my BMI of 45.
